Frank Warren has revealed that Fabio Wardley has been lined-up for a return to the ring later this year with the Queensberry promoter keen to secure his fighter a showdown with Kubrat Pulev.
The Ipswich star, who has recently become a father for the first time, kept his world title dreams alive with a stunning late stoppage victory over Justis Huni earlier this month.
Despite playing second fiddle to the previously unbeaten Australian, Wardley showcased his credentials with a devastating shot in the 10th round to capture the 'interim' WBA heavyweight belt and edge himself closer to a crack at the full title.
Oleksandr Usyk is currently in possession of the strap as he gears-up for a colossal rematch with Daniel Dubois on July 19 where the Ukrainian has the chance to establish himself as a three-time undisputed champion.
Wardley's rapid upward trajectory means he is on the brink of a collision with the former four-belt cruiserweight and heavyweight ruler, although he seemingly has one more obstacle - Pulev - standing between him and a lucrative world title showdown.
"I’d like the Kubrat Pulev fight for Fabio - I think it’s a good fight," promoter Warren told The Ring Magazine this week.
After the big fight at Wembley on July 19 (Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois 2), someone is going to hold all four belts. The first mandatory due is the WBO, then it goes from there.

"Maybe the undisputed champion defends all four belts, maybe they will have a rematch, or maybe some of the belts get vacated.
"Once we know what happens in that fight, all the contenders lining up will know what is next, but for now, the Pulev fight makes sense in lots of ways.
"By knocking out Huni, Fabio kept himself right near the front of that queue and it’s a great spot to be in. And when you can punch like he can, he is always in with a chance."
Wardley's statement triumph over Huni propelled him up to number seven in the Ring's heavyweight rankings as well as securing him the 'interim' WBA title, meaning big opportunities lie in wait for the former white collar boxer.
For now however, Warren has confirmed that his charge his happy to bide his time away from the limelight for a short while as he adjusts to parenthood.
"Congratulations to him and his partner," he added. "The timing of it all could not have gone any better in the end.
"Of course he will have a little break, but I would think we will see him back in the ring in late September or early October, that sort of time frame.
"A few months off, getting used to his new life and then right back into it."
