As rumours continue to swirl about a potential return for two-time heavyweight champion of the world Tyson Fury, his promoter Frank Warren has hinted at “intriguing situations” in boxing's prestigious blue-riband division.
The Gypsy King announced his latest professional boxing retirement in January 2025, seemingly dashing hopes of a blockbuster clash with his long-time rival, Anthony Joshua.
Both fighters have faced recent setbacks, with Fury suffering back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024, mirroring Joshua’s defeats to Usyk between 2021 and 2022.
Yet, the clamour for a Fury-Joshua showdown remains undimmed, fuelled recently by an Instagram clip of Fury training with his coach, ‘Sugar’ Hill Steward.
Speaking to Boxing News about whether the footage hinted at a comeback, Warren was non-committal: “Who knows, we’ll see what happens.
I haven’t had any conversations about him coming back. If he comes back, that’ll be his own decision, his own volition. If he wants to do it, he’ll do it; if not, he stays retired.

Warren’s immediate focus is the heavyweight title picture, which centres on a pivotal fight on July 19 at Wembley Stadium.
His fighter, IBF champion Daniel Dubois, will aim to become Britain’s first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis, but to do so, he will have to defeat Oleksandr Usyk, the Ukrainian who holds the WBA, WBC, and WBO titles and previously beat Dubois in 2023.
Usyk has suggested that, should he defeat Dubois again, he would like his final fight to be a trilogy bout against either Fury or Joshua.
When Boxing News asked Warren if Fury would prioritise a rematch with Usyk over a domestic showdown with Joshua, he replied: “I don’t know, that would be his decision.
"They’re all intriguing situations. All it does show you is everybody wants to see Tyson back in the ring again.
"He brings a lot of fun to it and skills, and he’s exciting. He’s never in a boring fight, but love him or hate him, when he gets in that ring, things happen."
