Queensberry promoter Frank Warren says there is a chance that Sunday's hugely-anticipated rematch between Ben Whittaker and Liam Cameron could be cancelled because of an ongoing contractual dispute.
The showdown is set to take a top of the bill slot on BOXXER's upcoming card on Easter Sunday, but legal issues surrounding the length of the fight have cast major doubt on whether the fight will now go ahead.
Cameron and his team (Queensberry) originally agreed to a 12-round contest, and signed the contract which stipulated this, however, an 'administrative error' within the agreement on BOXXER'S part (Ben Whittaker's promoters) has since been revealed to have been made.
The Manchester-based organisation instead wanted to stage the bout over 10 rounds and subsequently made contact with Queensberry two weeks ago, signalling their intent of removing two rounds.
This was also believed to have included a financial compensation offer to Cameron, which BOXXER believed had been accepted.
However, speaking on talkSPORT on Tuesday, just five days before the fight, Warren revealed that no amended contract has been signed on Queensberry's part, meaning the fight, if it is to take place, will do so over the legally contracted 12 round distance.
"We have a signed contract, and that’s the end of it,” Warren said.
"The only way you can deviate from that contract - that 12-round contract - is to agree terms with Liam (Cameron), if he wants to do it.
"It’s really simple, it’s 12 rounds, as the contract stipulates. They (BOXXER) could amend the number of rounds and do a deal for 10 rounds, or we’re in a legal situation and the fight won’t happen.
"Terms haven’t been agreed, otherwise something would be signed, which hasn't happened."
Despite Warren's comments it's expected that an agreement will be reached between now and fight night, although it remains to be seen whether the fight will be a 10 or 12-rounder.
