Coventry boss Frank Lampard says that his players will leave everything on the pitch ahead of their playoff semi-final second-leg match against Sunderland.
Eliezer Mayenda punished a late Coventry mistake to give Sunderland the advantage heading into the second-leg but Frank Lampard insists that the tie is far from over.
The CBS Arena was bouncing after Jack Rudoni cancelled out Wilson Isidor's opener but the mood changed to one of disappointment after the full-time whistle.
Lampard is now hoping for a turnaround from his side heading into the second-leg clash at the Stadium of Light.
We know exactly what it is, this was always a two-legged tie, the game is still there.
Said the former Chelsea manager ahead of Tuesday's game.
"We've got a great incentive to try and turn it around, turn the result around and leave everything on the pitch for sure," he continued.
Lampard has, of course, overseen one of the greatest comebacks in Championship playoff history when his Derby side staged a heroic performance to defeat Leeds from a seemingly impossible position.
He added: "I think I've been in football long enough regardless of the Derby game to know it's never done until it's done, in both ways.
"I remember being 3-1 up in a Champions League game against Liverpool and they scored two to go 3-3 at Stamford Bridge. That was in about half an hour, the game changed completely.
Fans of Coventry will be hoping it's lucky number 13 with just 12 teams successfully overturning first-leg defeats to reach the Championship playoff final at Wembley.
Lampard's Derby remain the only side to overturn the deficit when playing the second-leg away from home.
Whether it be Coventry or Sunderland who emerge triumphant they will already know their playoff final opponent as Sheffield United face Bristol City on Monday night.
