Charlton Athletic have taken journeyman winger Nathan Redmond on trial during pre-season.
The former England international featured for Charlton in a friendly against Dartford on Friday and he will now travel with the team on a pre-season trip to Slovenia.
Addicks manager Nathan Jones worked with Redmond during his time at Southampton and the player will now attempt to earn a contract with the club.
Redmond spent two months at Sheffield Wednesday last season after arriving on a short-term contract in November.
He featured seven times during his time at the club, with all of his appearances coming from the bench.
The 32-year-old suffered a groin injury which disrupted his time at Hillsborough and his contract was not extended beyond the end of January.
Redmond subsequently signed for Blackburn Rovers in March but he featured just twice for the club before his short-term deal was again not extended.
The former Norwich City and Birmingham City midfielder will feel that he still has something to give at Championship level and his experience is something that would benefit Charlton.
Jones' side started last season in fine form but they regressed after Christmas and almost became embroiled in a relegation battle.
They start their league campaign at home to Derby County on August 15th and Redmond could well be part of that squad if he impresses during pre-season.
