Former Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has joined Porto on a free transfer.
Smalling moves to Portugal after two years in the Saudi Pro League having left Al-Fayha following the expiration of his contract.
The 36-year-old joins on a one-year contract with the option for a further 12 months at the Estadio do Dragao.
Former Premier League defenders Jakub Kiwior and Jan Bednarek have occupied the centre of defence for Porto so far this season, with Nehuen Perez's injury leading to head coach Francesco Farioli looking at short-term options.
The former England international spent nine years at Old Trafford, largely being used as a squad member throughout his time at the club, winning two Premier League titles.
Having fallen out of favour, Smalling moved to Roma where he enjoyed a new lease of life, being a first-team regular for four years in the Italian capital. Smalling won man of the match in the Conference League final in 2022 as Roma beat Feyenoord 1-0, losing the following year in the Europa League final.
Smalling was deemed surplus to requirements at 2024, embarking on a move to Saudi Arabia.
