Former Inter midfielder Paul Ince has hailed the impact Simone Inzaghi has had on the club ahead of their UEFA Champions League final with Paris Saint-Germain
Inzaghi got his breakthrough in the dugout when being named permanent manager of Lazio in 2016, guiding the Biancocelesti to the Coppa Italia final in his maiden campaign and lifting the trophy two years later.
After five years in Rome, Inzaghi made the move to Inter where he's established himself as one of the sharpest tactical minds in Europe.
Inzaghi hasn't been without his critics, however; despite being able to outspend their rivals with the biggest salary bill in Serie A, Inzaghi has only guided Inter to one Scudetto in his four years at the club, throwing away the chance at the title late in the season as Antonio Conte's Napoli swooped in.
The 49-year-old is courting attention from further afield and has been linked with a departure for Saudi Arabia having proven himself to be an excellent manager in cup competitions, winning the Coppa Italia in his first two seasons in charge of Inter and now reaching a second UEFA Champions League final in three seasons.
While Inzaghi's system may have its flaws, former Inter man Ince is a big fan of how well drilled Inzaghi's side have become and how he extracts the maximum out of his players.
"I think they’ve been absolutely brilliant under Inzaghi," said Ince. "What you’ve got is a team who know how to play that system. You look at Manchester United playing that system and they’re miles off it. With Inter you’ve got a team who know how to play it.
"You also see what Inzaghi demands from his players; he reminds me of Antonio Conte running up and down the touchline.
"It’s easy for them now because they’ve done it year in, year out, they do it on the training ground every day. They know where to be, they know where to run, they know where to be when they haven’t got the ball, it’s a well oiled machine."
