Two of the top four in League One meet at Adams Park on Tuesday as second-placed Wycombe Wanderers play host to a Huddersfield Town side who sit two positions and seven points below them in the standings.
Wycombe can leapfrog Birmingham City and return to the top of the table with a victory, although their home form has been patchy of late.
Huddersfield, meanwhile, are the division's form side and will be aiming to extend their unbeaten run in the competition to 15 matches.
Draw - 12/5
Wycombe ended last season strongly, but still finished 11 points off the play-off positions, so not many people would have had them down as serious automatic promotion contenders for this term.
However, that is exactly what the Chairboys are after picking up 51 points from their opening 24 matches to sit second in the standings, sandwiched in between big-spending Birmingham and a Wrexham side still carrying their Hollywood sparkle.
One of the main reasons for Wycombe's success has been their strong away form - no team has picked up more points on their travels in the third tier this season than Matt Bloomfield's side - but their record on home soil has not been as spectacular.
Wanderers have accumulated three less points and 14 fewer goals at home than they have on their travels and Saturday's 1-1 draw with Blackpool means they have now won only one of their last five matches at Adams Park across all competitions.
That will encourage Tuesday's visitors, Huddersfield, who are on the longest unbeaten run in the division, as they have gone 14 games without suffering a league defeat since slipping up at Birmingham on October 1st.
Michael Duff's side are now closing in on the automatic promotion race, as despite sitting fourth, seven points behind both Wrexham and Wycombe, they do have at least one game in hand on both of those teams.
Like Wycombe, Huddersfield were held to a draw on Saturday by Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United and they have now shared the spoils in three of their last five, with another closely-fought contest expected on Tuesday.
These two sides are certainly hard to beat, with Wycombe having lost just one of their last 22 league games and Huddersfield unbeaten in 14. Both those records could well be extended in Buckinghamshire with the draw offering plenty of appeal.
Richard Kone to score at any time - 2/1
Having joined from the lower reaches of non-league last January, Wycombe forward Richard Kone showed glimpses of what he could do during the second half of last season, but he has taken that to a new level this term.
The Ivorian grabbed his 13th league goal of the campaign from the penalty spot against Blackpool last time out and only Louie Barry, who has been recalled by parent club Aston Villa from his loan spell at Stockport County, has netted more in the division this season.
Four of Kone's strikes have come across his last four appearances - including a brace in the 3-0 Boxing Day win at Stevenage - and he will be confident he can extend that hot streak on Tuesday.
Wycombe should certainly create plenty of opportunities for the 21-year-old, who signed a new contract with the club in November, as they are the leading scorers in League One, netting 50 times to date, nine more than any other side.
Under 4.5 cards in the match - 4/5
Both these sides had a player sent off at the weekend, with Alex Hartridge picking up two yellow cards for Wycombe and Huddersfield's Ruben Roosken receiving a straight red just nine minutes after coming on for what was his debut.
However, that is not a reflection on what this pair have served up for much of the campaign, as they are among the most disciplined sides in the division, receiving just 41 yellow cards apiece - only three teams have a better record than that.
With both teams averaging less than two cards-per-game in League One, it is hard to envisage more than four being dished out by referee Thomas Kirk on Tuesday, even if the wintry conditions do play their part.
