Mansfield to win @ 17/10

The general consensus in League Two is that Mansfield are the best side in the division and take them to stamp that conclusion by beating Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground.

This is one of the biggest games of the run-in - though the Dragons do still have second-placed Stockport to play - between two sides who have been consistently strong all season.

The much-hyped Welsh club have lived up to their billing since promotion while Mansfield, after a couple of recent play-off failures, are finally optimistic that their two-decade exile from the third tier is about to end.

It’s a clash between the highest home scorers and the highest away scorers and it’s Mansfield’s excellence on their travels which might just give them an edge.

It might also help them that they are playing a team who will come at them. Last week the Stags dropped points in a 1-1 draw against Colchester, a side who didn’t give Nigel Clough’s men space to breathe.

Clough was furious with the officials but it was a rare setback from a side who a few days earlier had won 5-1 at Bradford City in a mesmerising display. It was the fourth time in the past 10 matches in which they had scored four or more and was a 10th away win of the campaign, the best in the section.

Wrexham, after setting off like a train, have been pegged back since Christmas with five losses to go with five wins in their last 13 matches.

They have failed to find the net in their last two home matches - a 0-0 draw with Harrogate and 1-0 loss to Tranmere - though with 13 wins and 48 goals in front of their own fans those were rare disappointments.

That 0-0 draw for Phil Parkinson’s men against Harrogate was one of two they have been involved in this season, the other being at Mansfield in September, a game few people probably had pencilled in for no goals.

They subsequently met at Field Mill in the FA Cup with Wrexham winning 2-1.

Mansfield have got stronger and stronger as the season has gone on, however, and can pick off Wrexham to cement their place at the top of the table.

Stephen Quinn To Score or Assist @ 2/1

Veteran former Sheffield United and Hull midfielder Stephen Quinn has been a cornerstone of Mansfield’s rise to the top this season, and has the big-game experience to be a big player in a match like this one.

Quinn has scored three goals this season, all since the middle of December, and has nine assists, six of those in the same period.

At 37 he’s not quite as dynamic as he once was, but he still likes to arrive late into the box, still has a peach of a left foot and will take a lot of set-pieces. And that makes him a threat against a Mansfield side who have conceded 48 goals at home.

Over 10.5 Corners @ 5/6

It might have been 0-0 when these teams met at Field Mill back in September, but it was far from dull.

There were 28 chances - 20 for Mansfield - and 16 corners with both sides looking to get forward and playing with plenty of width.

And high corner counts has been the story of the campaign for both Wrexham and Mansfield.

The North Wales club average 6.5 corners every game, Mansfield 6.4 and it’s hard to imagine either side backing off now given any slips are going to be punished by the likes of Stockport and classy stalking horse Milton Keynes Dons.
