Defending champions Chelsea get the new Women's Super League season started on Friday when they take on Aston Villa and Racing Post's Liam Flin has two outright bets for the new campaign.
Last season, Chelsea reeled off their fifth straight WSL title win but head coach Emma Hayes has since departed after a 12-year reign at the club.
Her replacement, Sonia Bompastor, inherits a seriously talented squad but the Blues are in a period of transition and could be more vulnerable this term with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United looking to capitalise.
Manchester City Women to win Women's Super League - 2/1
There are typically three clubs to consider in the Women's Super League outright betting - Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City.
And heading into the 2024-25 season, it is City who make the most appeal at 2/1.
City pushed Chelsea to their very limits in the WSL last season, finishing level on 55 points and missing out on the title on goal difference.
They matched Chelsea's tally of 18 wins from 22 matches and had a better defence, conceding only 15 goals.
It would have been agonising for Gareth Taylor's team to fall short by such a fine margin but they look ready to go again this season.
There has not been a radical overhaul of the squad this summer but the arrival of Vivianne Miedema from Arsenal on a free transfer was eye-catching and she adds to an attack which already features Lauren Hemp, Chloe Kelly, Mary Fowler and Khadija Shaw among others.
Arsenal's decision to let the WSL's record goalscorer Miedema depart was a surprising one and it could prove to be a mistake.
Mariona Caldentey is a smart signing from Barcelona but the Gunners could again fall short in the title race after struggling for consistency last term.
Arsenal finished only five points adrift of the top two last season but lost too many winnable fixtures, sustaining defeats at the hands of West Ham, Tottenham and Liverpool last term.
City are a better pick than Arsenal with both priced at 2/1 and Chelsea look short enough at 15/8 given they are under new management.
Bompastor will likely do a great job with the Blues but has had to deal with plenty of comings and goings already this summer.
Fran Kirby, Jess Carter and Melanie Leupolz feature on a lengthy list of Chelsea departures and there is no guarantee the Blues will click in the same way they have done in previous seasons.
Aston Villa to finish in the top three - 10/1
For punters who expect any of Chelsea, Arsenal or Man City to perform particularly badly this season, the top-three finish market might also make an appeal.
The big three are expected by many to lead the way once again with Manchester United the most likely outsiders to achieve a top-three finish at 5/4.
But at a much juicier price, Aston Villa could be an interesting pick at 10/1.
Villa finished down in seventh spot last term but were fifth and only 10 points outside the top three in the 2022/23 campaign.
Their squad is loaded with talented individuals from former WSL top scorer Rachel Daly to experienced Canadian Adriana Leon.
Brazilian Gabi Nunes, meanwhile, is an exciting signing up top and Villa could be in for a decent season.
