Liverpool head to West Ham on Saturday for the 12:30 kick-off with their Premier League title hopes hanging by a thread after a dismal 2-0 Merseyside derby defeat at Everton in midweek.
The Reds now face another examination at the London Stadium against a Hammers outfit who are also in need of the points after a poor run of just one win in their last seven league games.
The visitors remain in ‘must-win’ territory but may have to settle for an unsatisfactory point instead against David Moyes’ side.
Draw - 15/4
Liverpool’s stuttering title challenge took probably a fatal hit at Goodison Park but it wasn’t just the result that was alarming as the overall performance was lethargic.
The Reds had more than enough possession and did manage to carve out some decent chances but their finishing was woeful, while at the back they were regularly outfought.
Mohamed Salah continued his poor form as he again failed to make hardly any impact in the game, while Darwin Nunez, Dominik Szoboszslai and Alexis Mac Allister were all way off colour.
There should be a reaction at the London Stadium but the early kick-off time - which boss Jurgen Klopp has regularly moaned about - should play into the hosts’ hands as they look to start the game quicker.
The Hammers have been struggling of late, too, and were well beaten by Crystal Palace on Sunday, going down 5-2, but they should rouse themselves for Liverpool’s visit.
David Moyes is under pressure amid speculation that he could be sacked in the summer and his side have won just one of their last seven in the top flight.
Klopp’s side know their chances of finishing top are extremely unlikely but any glimmer of hope they still have looks set to be put out on Saturday.
With both sides lacking confidence and out of form, an uninspiring draw might well be on the cards.
Wataru Endo to be booked - 10/3
Wataru Endo has had an impressive first season at Liverpool as the unassuming Japan skipper has played a crucial defensive midfield role.
The former Stuttgart man has, however, received eight yellow cards in the Premier League - with only Nunez, with nine, accumulating more in the Reds squad.
Endo has given away 40 fouls across his 25 appearances with only Luis Diaz (46) and Mac Allister (45) being penalised more and he can sometimes be guilty of launching himself late into tackles, while he is also unafraid of hauling back an opponent to stop a quick counter-attack.
Therefore Endo, who is pushing for a start after coming off the bench at Goodison, to be booked at 10/3 looks a good option in the cards market.
Luis Diaz over 1.5 shots on target - 12/5
One player who did his best to get Liverpool back into the game against Everton when others around him were floundering was Diaz.
The Colombia international at least attempted to force things from out wide and he came closest to scoring with a sharp effort coming back off the post in the second half on Wednesday.
In his last five games, Diaz has attempted 14 shots in total, of which four have been on target, and may well be the man to inspire the Reds in the final third with Salah and Nunez both at risk of being dropped to the bench.
Diaz has sometimes flattered to deceive during his time at Anfield but his work-rate and determination have never been in question and those are attributes Klopp will be calling for more than ever at the London Stadium.
