West Ham beat Newcastle United in their last Premier League outing, but the Hammers face a tougher test against London rivals Arsenal this weekend.
Arsenal -1 handicap @ 6/5
Injuries and red cards hampered Arsenal in the early stages of the 2024/25 season, but the Gunners look in good shape for Saturday's Premier League trip to West Ham United.
The return to fitness of skipper Martin Odegaard has been vital for the Gunners, who beat Nottingham Forest 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium before an eye-catching 5-1 UEFA Champions League win at Sporting on Tuesday.
The Portuguese champions had been unbeaten in 31 matches, including a 4-1 victory over Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League earlier this month.
However, they were blown away by Mikel Arteta's side, who led 3-0 at half-time, and it could be a similar story for a fragile Hammers defence.
The Irons shocked Newcastle 2-0 at St James' Park last Monday night, but they remain a work in progress under manager Julen Lopetegui.
Four of their five league defeats this season have been by two goals or more, against Man City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Forest, and Arsenal should be backed to cover a one-goal handicap on Saturday.
They won 6-0 at the London Stadium in February, scoring four times in a 13-minute blitz at the end of the first half.
With Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and former West Ham captain Declan Rice fit and firing, the Gunners look capable of continuing their resurgence with a wide-margin win in east London.
Tomas Soucek to have over 1.5 shots @ 6/4
Tomas Soucek opened the scoring for West Ham at Newcastle on Monday and the Czech international looks a big price to have at least two shots against Arsenal.
Soucek had three attempts, two of them on target, at St James' Park and he remains an important player for the Hammers despite the departure of David Moyes and the arrival of fresh midfield talent in the summer.
He is averaging 1.8 shots per game in this season's Premier League, posing a threat from open play and also from set-piece situations.
Soucek showcased his aerial prowess against the Magpies, scoring a 10th-minute header from a corner, while he also found the net in West Ham's 2-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last season.
Emerson to be booked @ 13/5
Arsenal winger Saka has had a blistering start to the campaign, contributing four goals and eight assists in 11 Premier League appearances, and he should ensure a difficult 90 minutes for West Ham left-back Emerson.
Saka, Odegaard and attack-minded right-back Jurrien Timber are all capable of causing Emerson problems down the visitors' right flank, so the Hammers man is worth backing to be shown a card.
He has picked up three bookings in 11 league outings this term, against Man City, Brentford and Manchester United, and was a regular name in referees' notebooks last season.
The Italy international was cautioned 13 times in 40 starts for West Ham in the 2023/24 Premier League and UEFA Europa League and he may struggle to stay out of trouble on Saturday.
