West Brom got their campaign off to a storming start but Carlos Corberan has been struggling to maintain the pressure recently with a host of draws slowing their momentum, something which should encourage Bristol City that they can make up ground on the top six themselves.
Bristol City draw no bet - 11/8
West Brom have endured a generally frustrating Championship campaign after making a bright start, and two wins from their last 15 matches can hardly be regarded as promotion-contending form.
Carlos Corberan’s team have had to settle for draws in 10 of their last 13 outings and while they enjoyed a welcome 2-0 victory in their last home clash against Coventry City, they can ill-afford to allow the leading lights any more of an advantage.
No team in the Championship has scored fewer home goals than the Baggies' meagre tally of eight, and that should give Bristol City hope that they can head back down the M5 with the points.
Liam Manning’s team have taken just one point from their last three away matches following defeats at Watford and Portsmouth, and a draw at Sunderland.
However, the Robins should take a great deal of confidence from their showing at the Stadium of Light, where they were pegged back by an injury-time equaliser.
City have gained a full return from trips to Middlesbrough, Preston and Norwich this season and their trip to Wearside was their fourth away draw of the season, so there are no guarantees that Albion will be able to break them down.
The chances of another stalemate look strong, but the draw-no-bet value looks to rest with the visitors and they are worth chancing in that market as they look to boost their pre-weekend standing of 10th.
Anis Mehmeti to score at any time - 7/2
City’s Albanian forward Anis Mehmeti tends to hover on the left side of the Robins attack, but that doesn’t stop him from having a pop at goal and he could boost his tally of six Championship goals this term.
Mehmeti seems to have his eyes firmly focused on the prize as he has fired in 18 efforts in his last five matches, a run that included six shots on target when he netted a brace in their 4-0 victory over Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth at the end of last month.
However, don’t make the mistake that Mehmeti only has a big effect when he is performing at City’s Ashton Gate base.
He has had 12 pops at goal in his last four away games and won’t need a second invitation to try his luck on multiple occasions.
Over 4.5 Bristol City corners - 5/6
Bristol City should not fear their visit to the Midlands and there looks a strong chance they will make their presence felt in the corner count.
Only four teams had averaged more corners per game before the weekend than the Robins and that figure remains steady when they are on their travels.
Coventry and Sheffield Wednesday are the only second-tier teams with a higher average on the road than City’s 5.91 and while it might not be enough to see them home in a corners match-bet - the Baggies’ mean figure of 6.6 deserves respect - the visitors can force more than four flag-kicks.
