Watford v Millwall: Free Tips, Prediction and Odds

Two teams still holding aspirations of reaching the Championship play-offs meet at Vicarage Road on Saturday, when Watford host Millwall.

The Hornets find themselves three points adrift of sixth-placed West Bromwich Albion, while the Lions are a further four points in arrears and know any more mistakes could prove costly in their top-six bid.

These two sides played out a thrilling encounter on the opening weekend of the campaign, with Watford grabbing a 3-2 victory at The Den.

Watford to win - 13/10

It has been an up-and-down season for Watford but they appear to be building momentum just at the right time as they aim to force their way into the play-off positions.

The Hornets looked to be slipping away from top-six contention following a run of just one point from a possible 15, but wins over Middlesbrough and Luton followed by a draw against Stoke has revitalised the team.

Saturday's visit of Millwall is the start of a run of three home games in their next four matches and head coach Tom Cleverley knows the form at Vicarage Road needs to improve if they are to stand any chance of earning promotion.

Watford had suffered five successive defeats at home before stopping the rot with a 2-0 triumph over Luton Town and that could be the catalyst the Hornets need to build a run in Hertfordshire.

Visitors Millwall will be no easy pushover though and the Lions have also not given up hope of getting into the play-offs despite the gap standing at seven points.

But Alex Neil's side have endured a tough few days, firstly losing 3-1 to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup fifth round that will be remembered for goalkeeper Liam Roberts' challenge on striker Jean-Philippe Mateta that resulted in a red card.

Millwall then lost 2-0 at home to Bristol City and there is the danger that a couple more defeats will end any hopes of reaching the play-offs and effectively leaving the team with nothing to play for.

It's also worth noting that the Lions have won just one of their last eight trips to Vicarage Road and it could be another unhappy visit for them on Saturday.

Giorgi Chakvetadze to have over 0.5 shots on target - 1/1

Watford have shared the goals around this season, with no player reaching double figures in the league yet, but that is not to say they don't have attacking threats in their side.

Georgia international Giorgi Chakvetadze is one of those threats and he has bagged twice this season, netting in the opening match of the campaign against Millwall and then against Cardiff at the end of December.

While not the most prolific in front of goal, the 25-year-old gets himself into good shooting opportunities and he has had at least one effort on target in five of his last seven appearances.

Given Chakvetadze has fond memories of playing against the Lions, he looks capable of testing the goalkeeper out at Vicarage Road.

Watford to receive over 1.5 cards - 4/5

If you were to go on the reputation of which of these two sides has the worst disciplinary record this season, then Millwall would most likely be plumped for, but it is in fact Watford that have fallen foul of the referee on the most occasions.

The Hornets have received 77 yellows in the Championship, leaving them joint-fourth alongside Sheffield United in that department and 10 behind leaders Preston.

Cleverley's troops have also been shown two reds and that disciplinary record is far worse than Millwall's, who have picked up 64 yellows and one red.

Watford have been shown over 1.5 cards in 12 of their last 15 matches in all competitions and have picked up one or fewer cards in seven league matches this term.

The Hornets clearly like to get stuck in and it would be no surprise to see them pick up at least two bookings on Saturday.
