Venezuela v Canada: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Venezuela won all three group games to reach the Copa America quarter-finals and they now take on Canada for a place in the last-four stage of the tournament.

La Vinotinto last reached the semi-finals in 2011, when they went on to finish fourth for their best Copa result, while the Canucks are making their debut in the major competition.

Venezuela v Canada betting tips and predictions

Venezuela to win - 31/20

International honours have so far evaded Venezuela, but they will fancy their chances of reaching the Copa America semi-finals for the second time, where they would face either Argentina or Ecuador.

Head coach Fernando Batista has got La Vinotinto firing in this tournament, with his side netting six times in the group stage, only Uruguay (9) bettered that total.

With just one goal conceded, Venezuela have also been strong at the back and they should hold no fears coming up against a Canada side who have struggled to get going in the final third.

The Canucks netted just once in their group and that is also their sole strike from their five assignments, having drawn blanks against the Netherlands, France, Argentina and Chile.

A large reason for this lack of creativity could be the fact head coach Jesse Marsch was only appointed in May this year, meaning he has had just five games in charge and is still getting used to this squad.

Former Leeds boss Marsch has at least managed to shore up the defence, with three clean sheets kept during his short time at the helm, but issues at the other end of the pitch are likely to cost his side.

Venezuela have been playing better football and they can pick up the win in just the third meeting between the two nations.

Eduard Bello to have over 0.5 shots on target - 7/4

Venezuela have a number of attacking threats in their squad and they have had four different goalscorers at the Copa America, with Eduard Bello being one of those.

Having come on as a substitute and scoring in the opening win over Ecuador, the 28-year-old has started the last two matches and he also netted in the 3-0 triumph over Jamaica.

Bello is playing with huge confidence down the right wing and while he appeals at 10/3 to score at any time in the quarter-final tie, the safer play is to take the 7/4 on him to have at least one shot on target.

Canada to have over 2.5 cards - 1/1

Canada could be asked to do a lot of defending in this encounter and this will increase the chances of the cards being dished out, with over 2.5 cautions for the Canucks the play here.

Marsch's side picked up three cautions over the first two group games, before they were then involved in a hot-tempered draw against Chile in which seven yellows and a red were shown.

Canada accounted for five of those yellow cards and there is every chance they will fall foul of the referee at least three times in Arlington, Texas.
