Valencia v Real Madrid: Tips, Predictions and Odds

Real Madrid will look to continue their dominance at the top of the La Liga table when they travel to the Mestalla on Saturday to face Valencia.

Los Che remain in the hunt for European football and have plenty to play for this week, but they will need to be at their very best to stop Carlo Ancelotti's side.

Los Blancos have a six-point cushion ahead of kick-off, and they will fancy their chances of extending that depending on results elsewhere.

Valencia v Real Madrid betting tips and predictions

Real Madrid to win and both teams to score @ 11/4

Valencia will be well rested by the time they play Real Madrid, with Los Che last in action on 17th February.

They are winless in two and have failed to trouble the scoresheet in both of those games, a 2-0 defeat to Las Palmas and a goalless draw with Sevilla.

Ruben Baraja's men have only won two in their last six, but they have certainly improved on recent campaigns. Valencia are only six points behind sixth-placed Real Betis, and they will be confident of finishing the season on a high and giving their fans something to dream about.

Their home form will be crucial to their chances, with Baraja's troops only losing three times at home this season.

Only Celta Vigo, Real Sociedad and Osasuna have gotten the better of them this season at the Mestalla, and they have scored in 10 of their 13 matches at home.

Real Madrid arrive as the best team in Spain, and they are unbeaten in eight in all competitions.

Remarkably, Ancelotti's side have only lost twice this season, with both defeats coming at the hands of rivals Atletico Madrid.

They are unbeaten in nine matches on their travels in the league, and they will fancy their chances of beating Valencia. They beat them 5-1 in the first fixture this season in November, and they have won five of the last seven meetings between the two clubs.

Under 5.5 cards in the match @ 10/11

Valencia will be full of enthusiasm as they try to stop Real Madrid's unbeaten run away from home, but that does not mean they will be reckless.

Some teams have resorted to aggressive play to try and slow down Ancelotti's outfit, but that is not how Valencia have operated under Baraja.

Valencia have picked up just 44 yellow cards this season, the second-lowest total in La Liga.

Only Celta Vigo have collected fewer yellows this season, while Real Madrid are not far behind them with 45 bookings.

That suggests we should get a relatively well-mannered affair, and even though there's plenty at stake, both teams have tried to do their talking with the ball at their feet.

Vinicius Jr. to score or assist @ 8/11

Ancelotti has several selection headaches to overcome on Saturday, with Jude Bellingham's absence his main worry.

The former Birmingham City and Borussia Dortmund midfielder is set to miss out this weekend due to an ankle injury, as Madrid's medical staff would rather he rest before taking on RB Leipzig in the Champions League in midweek.

Having already seen the likes of Joselu, Diego Militao, David Alaba and Thibaut Courtois suffer injuries this year, Ancelotti may also rest midfielder Toni Kroos to protect him for the clash with the Bundesliga club.

One man that he is likely to call upon, though, is winger Vinicius Jr., who has continued to lead the way in the final third.

While Bellingham is the club's top scorer, Vinicius Jr. has seven goals and four assists to his name. His pace and skill are always a problem for opposition defences, and if Madrid are to have any success, he will be at the heart of it, especially with so many big names on the sidelines this weekend for the league leaders.
