USA came into the CONCACAF Gold Cup in poor form, having lost to Canada and Panama at the CONCACAF Nations League before a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Turkey and a 4-0 hammering by Switzerland.

Nevertheless they were solid in the group stages of this tournament, scoring eight goals in three games. However, Costa Rica are not without hope, they picked up seven points from their group, including a draw with defending champions Mexico.

Three of the last four meetings between these two teams have gone over 2.5 goals and USA’s defence was leaky before this tournament so could be tested by Los Ticos.

However, they have plenty of attacking options of their own and three or more goals looks overpriced in this clash.
