Uruguay are third favourites behind Argentina and Brazil to win the Copa America and they got their challenge off to a solid start with a 3-1 win over Panama in their opening match.

Things didn't go so well for Bolivia, who lost 2-0 to tournament hosts, USA. This contest in New Jersey in the early hours of Friday morning looks set to be a one-sided affair.

Uruguay's 3-1 win over Panama on matchday one of the Copa America looks impressive at first glance but the scoreline slightly flatters the victors when looked at more closely.

La Celeste were in full control at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, but it was only 1-0 to Uruguay until the 85th minute when the goals started to flow as Panama ran out of steam following a resolute effort.

Max Araujo opened the scoring in just the 16th minute and things looked ominous for Panama at that early stage, but they stood firm until the last five minutes in a stubborn display to open their campaign.

However, goals from Darwin Nunez and Mathias Vina put the tie to bed, although there was still time for a consolation goal from Panama's Michael Murillo.

Uruguay will have been delighted with the outcome, and a similar result looks likely in their second fixture against Bolivia.

La Celeste have dominated this fixture in the past and they are red-hot favourites to make it two-from-two with another comfortable victory, and the two-goal handicap looks well within reach for Marcelo Bielsa's men.

Uruguay have scored at least two goals in five of their last six meetings with Bolivia and each of those meetings ended with La Celeste running out comfortable winners.

Bolivia famously struggle away from home as their La Paz base offers them an advantage of playing at high altitude which visiting teams find it tough to cope with, but they struggle on the road and their recent record is miserable.

La Verde managed just three shots on target in their 2-0 opening loss to USA and they have lost their last four matches, while failing to score in three.

Antonio Carlos Zago's side have lost 11 of their last 13 matches in all competitions and that sequence looks likely to be extended this week.

Uruguay ran out 3-0 winners when these two last met in November and that looks a solid correct-score bet for this latest meeting on Friday.

Darwin Nunez scored twice and Gabriel Villamil put through his own net on that occasion in which Bolivia failed to register a shot on target.

Uruguay came into these finals on the back of six wins in their last ten matches and there was a steely determination about the way they went about their business against Panama.

Four of the last six meetings have seen one team fail to score and it is difficult to see La Verde troubling Bielsa's backline on Frida, so a 3-0 outcome certainly looks achievable.

Uruguay over 6.5 shots on target - 4/6

Uruguay had seven shots on target against a resolute Panama side in their opening match and there is scope to expect them to at least match that total at the MetLife Stadium.

Nunez was full of running on Monday and he could well meet this total on his own against Bolivia.

Nunez is ably assisted elsewhere, though, and Bielsa's penchant for attacking football will see his side start off on the front foot and the shots could soon start to mount.

USA managed eight shots on target against Bolivia on Sunday, while Ecuador got into double figures in a recent friendly prior to the Copa America getting underway.

Back Uruguay to have at least seven shots on target this Friday.
