Turkey take on Wales in a crucial UEFA Nations League clash at the Kadir Has Stadium, Kayseri on Saturday.
Both teams are unbeaten in their opening four matches and look set to battle it out for the promotion places in Group B4, and there was little to separate them when they played out a goalless draw in the reverse fixture in Cardiff in September.
Wales have had to adjust to life under new manager Craig Bellamy after Rob Page was sacked, but they are ticking along nicely after also gaining two victories against Montenegro and a draw in Iceland.
Turkey are feared at home, but the good form of Brennan Johnson and Harry Wilson suggest the visitors can make their mark.
Turkey to win and both teams to score - 3/1
Wales seem to have settled since Bellamy replaced Page as manager and they will still harbour hopes of automatic promotion in the Nations League after being unbeaten in their first four games.
To do that, a victory in Kayseri against Turkey would be a massive boost, but that could be easier said than done for a team who have won just two of their last 11 away matches.
That should have been three last month as they were 2-0 up in Iceland after goals from Brennan Johnson and Harry Wilson, but they were pegged back and had to be content with a point from a 2-2 draw.
Eight of Turkey’s last 10 games have featured at least three goals and they have suffered just one defeat in their last 11 home outings, so they have every right to believe they can come out on top.
They also beat Wales 2-0 in a home Euro qualifier in June 2023, but they needed late goals from Umut Nayir and Real Madrid teenager Arda Guler and Wales will point to the fact they had Joe Morrell sent off before half-time.
Turkey have kept three clean sheets in their last nine home games, so take them to win a match in which both teams score.
Kerem Akturkoglu to score at any time - 12/5
Turkey’s Kerem Akturkoglu has produced a strong run of form for both club and country and should be supported to find the net against Wales.
He scored a hat-trick in the 3-1 home victory over Iceland and was also on the mark in the 4-2 success they claimed in the return fixture.
Akturkoglu has scored five goals in seven appearances for Benfica after securing a move to Portugal from Galatasaray at the end of the August transfer window and he tends to play in a more advanced role for the national team than he does domestically.
His confidence should also be boosted by goals in the Eagles’ UEFA Champions League matches against Red Star Belgrade, Atletico Madrid and Feyenoord and he looks primed to get on the scoresheet.
Harry Wilson to have a shot on target - 11/10
Harry Wilson has been a fringe player for the last few weeks at Fulham, but that has not stopped him being at the heart of the key action.
He was introduced as a last substitute in the Cottagers’ last four Premier League games, but scored two late goals to claim a 2-1 win over Brentford and was then on hand to seal their 2-0 win at Crystal Palace with the second goal on Saturday.
His Wales performances have been impressive too with goals in each of their last three Nations League games, so with him feeling on top of the world, he looks an attractive price to register a shot on target.
