Tromso v Kilmarnock: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Tromso and Kilmarnock clash in the second leg of their UEFA Conference League third qualifying round tie with the match on a knife-edge following a 2-2 draw at Rugby Park last week.

The Norwegians were seconds away from a famous win until Killie youngster Bobby Wales popped up with his first senior goal for the club.

Kilmarnock, without a win in five matches this season, are 5/2 to qualify with Tromso a 4/7 chance.

Under 2.5 Goals - 19/20

Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes believes his side are heading north of the Arctic Circle with confidence after fighting back to draw 2-2 with Tromso at Rugby Park last Thursday.

Killie haven't won any of their five matches this season and have already been demoted from the Europa League into this competition.

Yet McInnes, who saw his side embarrassed at home by St Johnstone on Sunday in a dismal 3-0 defeat, insists his charges can go through to meet either Copenhagen or Banik Ostrava in the play-off round.

With Tromso themselves struggling this season and locked in a relegation scrap in the Eliteserien, you can understand why McInnes is fancying Killie's chances.

But Kilmarnock, themselves bottom of the Scottish Premiership after two rounds of action, are going to have to improve considerably to leave the Romssa Arena with a place in the next stage wrapped up.

Perhaps the biggest surprise from the first leg was that there were four goals, though that may not be repeated in Norway.

That Killie concede too many is no secret. Admittedly, better teams than them will concede four at Celtic as they did in their opening-day 4-0 defeat at Parkhead. They also played most of Sunday's game against St Johnstone with ten men after Joe Wright's early red.

In Europe, however, their two games against Cercle Brugge in the Europa League produced a 1-1 home draw and a 1-0 away defeat.

Tromso's games are generally low-scoring with their five matches prior to last Thursday's 2-2 draw producing a grand total of four goals.

They have scored only 18 goals in 18 league games and their two matches against Finland's KuPS in the previous round yielded a pair of 1-0 wins for Jorgen Vik's side.

In the 2-2 draw at Kilmarnock there were only 10 attempts and given how cagey this tie could be, don't expect a thriller so under 2.5 goals appeals.

Daniel Armstrong to be booked - 2/1

Exciting wide man Danny Armstrong has been turning heads on both sides of the border, with the likes of Rangers and Bolton lodging bids for the ex-Wolves star.

And the winger is certainly one of the first players McInnes will look to for the odd flash of genius that might turn this tie around.

He scored six goals and had ten assists last term and has slotted nicely into the wing-back role he has been handed.

But with Armstrong comes an edge which makes him likelier to get a yellow card than a goal, with 10 to his name in all competitions last season and the same number the season before.

The longer the tie goes on, the more tense it gets, so expect a few cards, with Armstrong - booked against St Johnstone on Sunday - value to be shown one.

Under 9.5 Corners - 1/1

There were only five corners in the first leg, four of which went to Kilmarnock, and Killie have only won five corners in two Premiership matches so far this season.

Tromso are averaging 4.9 corners per game in the Eliteserien, but with the tie hanging in the balance this could easily be a slow burner with neither side wanting to make a mistake which could cost them dear.

A risk-free encounter could see a scarcity of corners, making the under 9.5 line appealing.
