Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has revealed his desire to play in La Liga in the future.
Speaking to Argentine broadcaster TyC Sports, Romero said:
La Liga is left for me to play in, I would love to, to tell you the truth.
26-year-old Romero has been a key player for Tottenham since arriving from Italian outfit Atalanta for £42.5m in August 2021.
Contracted at Tottenham until 2027, Argentine World Cup winner Romero has been linked with summer moves to both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid.
Although Romero has voiced his keenness to move to Spain, as of yet he has made no decision regarding his future beyond this summer.
"The truth is I haven't spoken to my representative yet but I'm open to anything. In my head, I always [think about] growing, also going to new places to keep growing but I don't want to talk about that yet because there's a few months left of the championship," Romero told TyC Sport.
Romero has struggled with injuries in what has been a miserable domestic campaign for Spurs this term, missing three months of action between December and March with a hamstring problem.
The Argentina international, one of Tottenham's vice captains, has been able to deliver on the European stage, however, producing an outstanding display in Spurs' 1-0 win away at Eintracht Frankfurt in the second-leg of their UEFA Europa League quarter-final.
Regardless of where his future lies beyond this summer, Romero will be desperate to mark his time at Spurs with a trophy as Ange Postecoglou's side prepare to take on Bodo/Glimt in the last four of the UEFA Europa League.
