Tottenham Hotspur v Wolves: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has plenty of work to do to get his team into the battle for European places and an injury crisis is not helping his inconsistent side.

They could be up against it when they face Wolves, who can finally see the light as wins over Leicester City and Manchester United have improved life at Molineux following a dismal start to the Premier League season.

Wolves to win - 16/5

Postecoglou is enduring the most difficult period of his time at the Spurs helm and it could get even more tricky for the Australian when his team entertain Wolves on Sunday.

The former Celtic boss is facing up to having hardly any fit defenders available for the clash against the Molineux outfit, who have got their act together under new manager Vitor Pereira.

The Lilywhites' latest disappointment came on Boxing Day when they suffered a 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest.

On a miserable day at the City Ground Postecoglou saw Radu Dragusin hobble off and join fellow defenders Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies - as well as goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario - on the treatment table, while full-back Djed Spence was sent off.

So he has to somehow patch up his rearguard and, while Spurs have a great deal of ability going forward, it is a huge leap of faith to back them at a short price against Wolves, particularly when they conceded six goals in their last home game against league leaders Liverpool.

Wolves made a disappointing start to the season and manager Gary O’Neil paid the price as he lost his job with his team having the leakiest defence in the top-flight.

However, his replacement Pereira has inspired his team to victories against Leicester and Man Utd in his first two games and, as an added bonus, they have had two successive clean sheets as well.

With the wind in their sails they will be confident they can gain another win at Tottenham, to match the 2-1 victory they gained there on their last visit in February.

Matheus Cunha to score at any time - 15/8

Wolves forward Matheus Cunha has scored 10 goals for a team who have won just four of their 18 Premier League this season, which is no mean feat and the Brazilian could find the target again at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Cunha has netted in the last three games, including the opener in Wolves' 2-0 win over Man Utd on Boxing Day and looks sure to threaten what will be a makeshift home defence.

He has had multiple goal efforts in 12 of his last 13 league outings and looks a decent price to add to his tally on Sunday afternoon.

Yves Bissouma to be booked - 13/5

Postecoglou will have been spending most of the last couple of days scratching his head to come up with a solution to his defensive problems.

One solution he could adopt is to field defensive midfielder Yves Bissouma in the back four.

If he is posted into an unfamiliar position, that could leave the Mali international vulnerable to picking up a yellow card if Wolves look to prey on his defensive inexperience.

Bissouma has picked up six Premier League bookings this season and two further cautions in the UEFA Europa League, so it would be no surprise if he once again went into the referee’s notebook.
