Tottenham are still coming to terms with defensive injury issues, which makes them vulnerable against Newcastle, who have moved into the top five of the Premier League after four successive victories.
Their striker Alexander Isak, who has 12 goals this season, is in red-hot form and could have a big say on proceedings in north London.
Newcastle United to win - 5/4
Tottenham Hotspur have been treading water for the last few weeks in the Premier League as Ange Postecoglou’s side have been hit by a series of defensive issues, and they could be vulnerable against Newcastle United, whose form has hit a purple patch.
The Magpies have stormed up to fifth and are firmly in the picture for Champions League qualification after four successive wins, the latest of which came at Manchester United on Monday.
That 2-0 victory was the fourth successive league game that Eddie Howe’s team kept a clean sheet and they look set to exploit Tottenham’s issues at the back, which were worsened when left-back Destiny Udogie limped out of their 2-2 draw against Wolves.
Postecoglou is already without his best two centre halves Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, while a one-match suspension for defensive midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur is also poorly timed.
Spurs have kept just one clean sheet in their last 25 home league games and there have to be concerns that they will find their in-form north east visitors far too hot to handle in their first game of 2025.
Alexander Isak to score two or more goals - 3/1
Newcastle’s push up the table has been spearheaded by striker Alexander Isak, who took his seasonal tally to 12 on Monday with the opener in the victory at Old Trafford.
The Sweden striker has scored eight times in his last seven league appearances, a run that included his first hat-trick for the Magpies in their 4-0 victory at Ipswich Town.
However, he should not be discounted as a player who only performs against struggling teams as he has found the net against Liverpool, Arsenal, this season’s surprise package Nottingham Forest and in both the league and EFL Cup against Chelsea.
He is a forward who is completely at the top of his game and it is worth taking a chance that he can get on the scoresheet against the struggling Tottenham defence more than once and continue his great form.
Dejan Kulusevski to commit over 1.5 fouls - Evs
It has been all hands on deck for Spurs as they look to cope with their defensive injury issues and Sweden midfielder Dejan Kulusevski has been doing his fair share.
No Tottenham player has been pulled up for more fouls than Kulusevski, who has committed a total of 29 fouls in his 17 league starts for the Londoners this season.
Ten of those indiscretions have come in his last five games and he was whistled four times in their 2-1 defeat at St James’ Park in September, so there looks a strong chance that he will fall foul of the officials more than once.
