Tottenham Hotspur v Leicester City: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Two sides in desperate need of some Premier League joy meet in North London on Sunday, when Tottenham Hotspur host Leicester City.

A six-game run without a top-flight win has seen Spurs slip to 15th position in the table, heaping the pressure on an increasingly spiky Ange Postecoglou.

Leicester boss Ruud van Nistelrooy is also under the pump despite having only been in the post since the end of November, with seven successive league defeats leaving the Foxes 19th in the table.

Given just four places separate these two sides, this match could be dubbed a 'relegation battle', but Spurs hold a 10-point advantage over City and it would be a surprise if the hosts get dragged into a dogfight.

Tottenham Hotspur v Leicester City betting tips and predictions

Tottenham Hotspur to win and both teams to score - 11/8

It has been a miserable time in the league for Spurs, who last tasted success in the top-flight on 15th December when thrashing Southampton 5-0 at St Mary's.

Tottenham have collected just one point from the next 18 on offer since that south coast triumph, conceding 16 goals during this period and slipping out of contention for a European finish.

Delving deeper into Spurs' form, that victory over the Saints is their sole win in the last 10 league outings and they are in need of a positive result to lift the mood around the club.

While results have been hard to come by in the top flight, Tottenham have been making good progress in the cup competitions, most recently beating Hoffenheim 3-2 in the League Phase of the UEFA Europa League.

Spurs are just 90 minutes away from the League Cup final, as they hold a 1-0 lead over Liverpool heading into the second leg, while an extra-time success over Tamworth booked their place in the FA Cup fourth round.

There have been no issues for the Lilywhites in attack, who have failed to score in just one of their last 13 fixtures in all competitions, but a fragile defence has been the overriding concern.

Postecoglou's side have conceded twice or more in each of their last four home matches in the league, while they have kept just one clean sheet from 11 top-flight assignments at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That shaky backline which continues to be ravaged by injuries should provide Leicester with the hope that they can at least get on the scoresheet in north London.

Van Nistelrooy's troops have lost seven in a row in the league, failing to score in their last two, but they did stick six past QPR in the FA Cup third round three matches ago.

Of the Dutchman's three away games in charge, the Foxes have scored in two of those, at Liverpool and Aston Villa, and they have the attacking threat to trouble the hosts.

Heung-Min Son anytime goalscorer - 1/1

With Brennan Johnson, Dominic Solanke, Wilson Odobert and Timo Werner all sidelined, Tottenham's attacking options have been reduced and that has put extra strain on the players that are fit.

One of those individuals being asked to step up is captain Heung-Min Son and he has done so with aplomb in recent games, netting a brace against Hoffenheim on Thursday to make it three goals from his last three appearances.

The 32-year-old will be relishing the chance to take on Leicester, an opponent he has scored 10 times and registered five assists against in 17 meetings.

Son has scored five goals in the last two home matches against the Foxes, hitting a hat-trick in a 6-2 victory and a brace in a 3-1 triumph.

James Justin to have over 0.5 shots on target - 4/1

Leicester also have attacking options at their disposal - Jamie Vardy being one of those - but wing-back James Justin looks like an interesting option to get a shot on target.

Given that Tottenham are an attack-minded team, they often leave themselves exposed at the back and there could be room for Justin to drive forward down the right.

The 26-year-old had two shots on target in the FA Cup win over QPR, both producing goals, while he also tested the goalkeeper twice in the 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.
