Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace: Tips, Predictions and Odds

Tottenham Hotspur have had a couple of weeks to prepare for this visit from fellow Londoners Crystal Palace and Ange Postecoglou’s side will be hoping to bounce back after their defeat to Wolves last time out.

The hosts can close the gap on the top four with a win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but face a rejuvenated Eagles side who got the Oliver Glasner era off to a winning start against Burnley last weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace betting tips and predictions

Tottenham Hotspur to win and both teams to score @ 7/4

Tottenham manager Postecoglou has drawn plenty of plaudits for his attractive brand of football in north London, but the defensive frailties present in the team cannot be ignored and that should give Crystal Palace a chance to get on the scoresheet on Saturday.

Spurs harbour the worst defensive record in the top six and their 2-1 defeat to Wolves a couple of weeks ago made it eight top-flight assignments without a clean sheet, while they haven’t shut out the opposition at home since October, shipping 16 goals in the nine games since that 2-0 win over Fulham.

The hosts have, however, won five of their last six home league games and are just five points adrift of a top-four berth with a game in hand. They should have the beating of Crystal Palace here, with the visitors earning just three points from their last seven Premier League away games.

The Eagles lost 2-1 at home to Tottenham earlier this season and have scored in 11 of their 13 league away games this term. That defeat at Selhurst Park was their fourth successive defeat against Spurs, so back them to score in defeat in north London.

Over 3.5 goals @ 13/10

With 90 goals scored across their 25 Premier League matches so far, Tottenham have the second-highest goals-per-game record in the Premier League and more goals are expected at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

Each of Spurs’ last eight Premier League games have featured at least three goals and five of those have gone one better, with over 3.5 goals landing in meetings with Everton, Brentford, Manchester United, Bournemouth and Brighton since Christmas.

Crystal Palace, so often towards the bottom of the goalscoring charts, have been relatively neutral-friendly this season, too.

Glasner’s first game in charge saw the Eagles soar to a 3-0 win and their last seven league games have produced an impressive 28 goals in total. Five of those have featured at least four goals, so neutrals could be in for a treat on Saturday.

Jordan Ayew over 0.5 shots on target @ 6/4

Jordan Ayew produced a moment of magic in the reverse fixture at Selhurst Park in October as he scored a fierce volley in the dying embers of their 2-1 defeat to Tottenham and he could trouble Guglielmo Vicario on Saturday.

The Ghana international has registered 15 shots on target in the Premier League this season and has been in fine form over the last few weeks, scoring in each of his last two games and chipping in with an assist for good measure.

Ayew has tested the opposition goalkeeper at least once in each of his last four appearances for The Eagles and he hit the target with both efforts against Spurs in October, so he could be the main threat to the home side this weekend.
