Arsenal head to Tottenham looking to boost their Premier League title chances with a vital victory in the derby, but Tottenham have their own priorities as they look to grab fourth spot.
North London derbies are typically highly charged and entertaining encounters and with so much at stake at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Sunday’s meeting could be even more compelling than usual, so expect plenty of goals and action.
Over 3.5 goals - 6/5
The race for the Premier League title is so intense that Arsenal cannot afford to slip up on Sunday and nothing would cheer Tottenham’s hearts more than denting their arch-rivals’ hopes and boosting their own chances of finishing in the top four by winning the derby.
There are strong form lines for each team and with tensions riding high it could be a case of who best deals with the atmosphere, but the Gunners have to be confident having won six of their last seven away matches, drawing the other, while also keeping clean sheets in their last six.
The game they failed to win in that run was a goalless draw at Manchester City in a match where they were probably the better side, so they won’t fear going anywhere.
However, despite some poor away performances at Fulham and Newcastle recently, Tottenham have won eight of their last nine games on their own patch, and there is never any danger of Ange Postecoglou’s side holding back.
Consequently, it seems sensible to anticipate there will be plenty of goals and we could see more than three.
There have been over 3.5 goals in seven of Tottenham’s last 12 home league games - all of which have featured at least three - while Arsenal have netted 24 times in their last seven on the road.
Rodrigo Bentancur to be booked - 13/8
It stands to reason that the game will be intense and as getting a grip on the midfield will be key to the outcome, the tackles could be flying in, particularly in that area of the field.
One player who looks set to be in the heart of the action is Tottenham’s Uruguay international Rodrigo Bentacur, who, despite his smooth demeanour, knows how to mix it in the middle of the park.
He has had an injury-hit time during his two-and-a-half seasons at Spurs, but when he has played he has often walked a disciplinary tightrope.
After being cautioned eight times last season in a campaign that was ended by a serious knee injury in February, Bentacur has started from where he left off after fighting his way back to fitness.
He has been booked in four of his last seven Spurs appearances, including in recent games against West Ham and Nottingham Forest, and it would be no surprise if he went into the referee’s notebook in this massive game.
Martin Odegaard to provide an assist - 3/1
Arsenal were superb in disposing of Chelsea 5-0 on Tuesday and Norwegian midfielder Martin Odegaard was at the heart of most that the Gunners created.
He provided two assists in the game and has been quietly helping Mikel Arteta’s side to tick along in their battle with Manchester City to be crowned Premier League champions.
That took his set-up tally for the season to eight and he will have happy memories of his last visit to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when he scored in a 2-0 win for the Gunners, which was their first success at their rivals’ home since 2014.
Expect him to aim to get a grip on proceedings in this key game and he looks a big price at 3/1 to create another goal.
