French side Lyon's most successful run in the UEFA Champions League came in 2010, reaching the semi-finals before losing to Bayern Munich.

Rangers

Rangers came closest to UEFA Champions League glory when reaching the semi-finals in 1960, with the Scottish giants going down to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Panathinaikos

Greek outfit Panathinaikos made it all the way to the European Cup final in 1971, losing 2-0 to Rinus Michels' Ajax at Wembley Stadium in London.
