It’s that time of year when the FA Cup enters the fray and there’s first round action from The Lamb Ground to look forward to as National League outfit Tamworth host League Two side Huddersfield Town.
After a shaky spell in the early weeks of life back in the third tier of English football, in which Huddersfield lost five games in six outings, the Terriers have responded in October.
Currently on a four-game unbeaten run in the league, with three wins and a draw in that time, confidence is growing in the Huddersfield camp ahead of their trip to the West Midlands on Friday night.
Tamworth were on a three-game winning streak earlier this month, before a goalless draw against Yeovil Town and a 2-0 defeat to Southend United in their last two outings.
Looking to get back to their goal-scoring ways from earlier in the month, Tamworth are capable of causing Huddersfield problems at The Lamb Ground but it might not be enough to pull off an FA Cup upset.
Huddersfield Town to win and both teams to score - 11/5
After a troubling run of league form, the Terriers seem to have found their feet again and a push for promotion back to the Championship is up and running.
Friday night provides perhaps an unwanted distraction from their League One mission but this game is a good opportunity for Huddersfield to progress to the second round and perhaps meet some Premier League opposition further down the line.
Winning four of their last five games, manager Michael Duff is getting a tune out of this Huddersfield side and they should be able to secure the win within regulation time at The Lamb Ground this week.
However, Tamworth can have their moments in this game and should at least give their fans a goal to cheer about on Friday night.
The Lambs have scored in six of their last seven home games in all competitions, while winning five times in that spell.
Facing Huddersfield will be a step up in class but backing Tamworth to get on the scoresheet in a Terriers victory looks to be the way to go here.
Ben Wiles anytime goalscorer - 15/4
Top goalscorer for Huddersfield in League One this season, attacking midfielder Ben Wiles has been one of the standout performers for the West Yorkshire outfit so far.
The former Rotherham United player has been happy to get forward from the heart of midfield and has proven to be tricky for defenders to stop.
Scoring last time out in a 2-0 win over Exeter City, Wiles is in goalscoring form and the 25-year-old Yorkshireman looks to be good value to add to his goal tally for the season in this FA Cup first round encounter.
Daniel Creaney anytime goalscorer - 9/2
With Tamworth expected to get on the scoresheet on their own patch on Friday night, Daniel Creaney is their best chance of finding the back of the net.
The 30-year-old forward is the joint-top goalscorer for the Lambs in the National League this season, while he was the last player to score for Tamworth in a 3-2 win over Woking earlier this month.
Creaney went on a run of scoring in four consecutive games in all competitions before a goalless draw with Yeovil and he looks capable of getting back among the goals against the Terriers in this one.
