Switzerland Women vs Norway Women Tips, Predictions and Bet Builder

Norway Women came through the UEFA Women's Euro 2025 play-offs in style, thrashing Albania 14-0 on aggregate before beating Northern Ireland 3-0 and 4-0.

Norway are favourites to finish top of Group A but they start the campaign with what looks like their toughest fixture in the section – against tournament hosts Switzerland Women in Basel.

Switzerland Women vs Norway Women Prediction

Best Bet: Norway Women to win to nil @ 12/5

Switzerland Women lost three of their last four Nations League games to nil and the most recent of those fixtures was a 1-0 home defeat to Norway Women.

The Swiss may struggle to breach Norway's defence in their Group A opener and they face a top-class Norwegian attacking unit spearheaded by Lyon ace Ada Hegerberg.

Barcelona's Caroline Graham Hansen, Arsenal's Frida Maanum and Chelsea's Guro Reiten are also goal threats and Norway have lost only three of their last 18 competitive internationals.

James Milton explains:

Norway's only defeats in their last 18 competitive games were narrow losses to France – twice – and the Netherlands. Their defence should stand firm against a limited Switzerland attack and they can frank the form of June's 1-0 Nations League victory over the Swiss.

Switzerland Women vs Norway Women Bet Builder Tip

  • Norway to win

  • Under 3.5 goals

  • Guro Reiten to score

    Pays 9/1

Norway Women did the double over Switzerland in this year's Nations League and they look stronger than the tournament hosts at both ends of the pitch.

Under 3.5 goals is a solid bet as these teams drew 0-0 at the 2023 World Cup and Norway won their 2025 Nations League meetings by 2-1 and 1-0 scorelines.

Norway midfielder Guro Reiten had a productive campaign for Chelsea, scoring 10 goals in 16 domestic starts, and she found the net twice in four appearances at the 2023 World Cup.

James Milton adds:

Norway won two low-scoring Nations League clashes with Switzerland in February and June and it could be a similar story in Basel. Boost the Bet Builder by backing Chelsea star Guro Reiten, who plays in an attacking-midfield role for Norway, to score at any time.

 Tactics, Form and Team News

Experienced Tottenham defender Luana Buhler is an injury absentee for Euros hosts Switzerland so Espanyol's Laia Balleste, who has only one senior cap, comes into the squad.

Coach Pia Sundhage is expected to play five at the back. Arsenal's Lia Walti missed last week's 4-1 friendly win over the Czech Republic but should be fit to anchor the midfield on matchday one.

Young forward Svenja Folmli came off the bench to score the fourth goal against the Czechs, taking her tally to five in 26 caps, and the Freiburg player could start against Norway.

Expected Switzerland Women lineup: (5-3-2): Peng; Beney, Calligaris, Stierli, Maritz, Riesen; Reuteler, Walti, Vallotto; Folmli, Schertenleib

Norway Women are coached by former Wales manager Gemma Grainger, whose captain Ada Hegerberg won the Ballon d'Or in 2018.

Hegerberg had almost five years in the international wilderness between 2017 and 2022 but she is still just one short of 50 international goals and is the record scorer in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

Defender Guro Bergsvand, who completed her move from Brighton to Wolfsburg last month, has been ruled out of the Euros due to injury and her replacement is Brann's Marthine Ostenstad.

Expected Norway Women lineup: (4-2-3-1): Fiskerstrand; Bjelde, Mjelde, T Hansen, Lund; Boe Risa, Engen; Graham Hansen, Maanum, Reiten; Hegerberg
