Switzerland v Germany Prediction, Tips and Odds: Swiss to get on the scoresheet

Switzerland and Germany face off in Frankfurt on Sunday evening in the final round of Group A games at the Euros and the tournament hosts are set to be put to the test.

The hosts have already secured their place in the next round and will finish top of the group if they avoid defeat, while Switzerland are virtually guaranteed a place in the knockout phase and a point would ensure they claim second place.

Switzerland vs Germany betting tips and predictions

Both teams to score - 8/11

Germany have two wins from two attempts at Euro 2024 and are worthy favourites going into this game, but Switzerland are the team in greater need and that shouldn’t be underestimated here.

Murat Yakin’s men have a good recent record against the Germans and are unbeaten in the last three meetings, stretching back to 2008, while they are also on a six-game unbeaten run.

Germany have scored seven goals in two games so far and have enough firepower to hurt a Swiss defence that have gone three games without a shut-out - but a clean sheet may be beyond them here.

Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann doesn’t have to make changes to his team and should name a strong side as they look to lock in top spot, but he could be tempted to make a few changes at the back.

Preferred centre-back pairing Jonathan Tah and Antonio Rudiger, left-back Maximilian Mittelstadt and defensive midfielder Robert Andrich have all been booked and that could come into Nagelsmann’s thinking in terms of team selection.

Accumulated yellow cards are reset after the quarter-finals.

As such, there may be a few changes in the German backline and that in turn may see the Swiss create a few more chances than they would against a settled rearguard.

Both teams to score looks a strong play in this fixture but for anyone feeling a little bolder a Germany win and both teams to score is a good option.

Ultimately, Germany should be expected to win given their strong displays in their opening two games and the fact they have home advantage as the host nation, but the fact a draw would suit both teams makes simply backing goals for both sides a sensible move.

Jamal Musiala to score anytime - 13/5

Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala is one of the early frontrunners for the Golden Boot award after scoring in both of Germany’s games so far and he can keep that run going with an anytime effort on Sunday.

Musiala hit 10 goals in just 24 Bundesliga games for his club side last season and has been his side’s main threat going forward in these early stages of Euro 2024.

The 21-year-old is averaging 2.0 shots-per-game so far in the tournament and 75% of his efforts have been from inside the box, while the same percentage have also been either on target or blocked.

Those stats show that Musiala is the form player in the German attack and looks the best bet for a goal at anytime in the final round of group games.

Dan Ndoye over 0.5 shots on target - 11/8

Dan Ndoye looks a real threat going forward for Switzerland, despite the fact he remains without a goal after two games.

The Bologna man is averaging an impressive 3.5 shots per-game in the tournament and he had four attempts in the 1-1 draw with Scotland in Switzerland’s last fixture.

Accuracy has been an issue for Ndoye as so far only one of his attempts has been on target.

However, he has seen two efforts blocked and that indicates they would have tested the keeper had a defender not intervened.

Breel Embolo could be handed his first start on Sunday and if he is involved from the off he should take some of the focus away from Ndoye, which would give the 23-year-old a bit more freedom and he looks a strong value play to record at least one attempt on goal.
