Swansea City v West Brom: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Two sides with play-off aspirations meet in the Championship at the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday, when Swansea City host West Brom.

The Baggies currently occupy sixth position in the table, ahead of seventh-placed Blackburn Rovers on goal difference, while the Swans are six places and six points behind their opponents.

West Brom are still without a permanent manager following the departure of Carlos Corberan, meaning Chris Brunt will remain in temporary charge for the fourth game.

His opposite number in the dugout, Luke Williams, has been linked with the vacant post at the Hawthorns and this contest could act as an interview for the job, although the Swansea chief has distanced himself from these reports.

Swansea City v West Brom betting tips and predictions

Over 2.5 goals - 6/5

Swansea have been a tough team to predict this season and a record of four wins, four defeats and two draws over their last 10 fixtures highlights this.

The Swans finished 2024 off with two consecutive wins, beating QPR and Luton Town, but they got the new year off to a dismal start after being thrashed 4-0 at relegation-threatened Portsmouth.

Williams has struggled for consistency and there is not enough confidence to back them in the full time result market, which is the same scenario when it comes to West Brom.

The Baggies were delivered a shock when Corberan left the club for Valencia and they are still trying to find his successor, with interim boss Brunt overseeing a defeat, one draw and a victory from his three matches at the helm.

West Brom were impressive last time out, beating Preston North End 3-1, but Brunt's two away fixtures in charge have resulted in a defeat at Derby County and a draw at Sheffield United.

Given the lack of confidence in any side to win this contest, the better play here looks to be going for over 2.5 goals, a bet that has landed in Swansea's last six games and in two of Brunt's three matches in charge of the Baggies.

The Swans' last five home fixtures have been particularly entertaining, with 22 goals witnessed and three or more strikes seen in all of those contests.

While Brunt has brought about an attacking improvement for the Baggies, notching five times, they have been vulnerable at the back with four goals conceded.

Harry Darling to score or assist - 11/2

Liam Cullen has been the main attacking threat for Swansea this season, scoring eight times in the league, while fellow forward Zan Vipotnik has chipped in with four goals.

However, defender Harry Darling has made his mark in the final third and he has two goals to his name, with the most recent of those coming four games ago in the defeat to Hull.

Along with his two strikes, the 25-year-old has also registered three assists, with two of these coming in December in the matches against Sunderland and Luton Town.

Standing at 6ft 2in, Darling is a big aerial threat when it comes to set-pieces and he provides real value to grab either a goal or assist against West Brom.

Kyle Bartley to be booked - 12/5

Kyle Bartley played for Swansea from 2012-2018 before making the move to West Brom and he will be eager to make his mark against his former employers.

The 33-year-old has been a regular fixture for the Baggies this term, appearing in 19 league matches, but the demands of the busy fixture list have started to show on the defender.

Bartley has been cautioned just twice but both of those bookings have come in his last four appearances, including last time out in the home victory over Preston.

His first yellow card came four matches ago against Bristol City and there are signs the centre-back has been feeling it in the legs over the last couple of weeks.

Going up against the likes of Cullen and Ronald, this won't be an easy test for Bartley and it would be no surprise to see him fall foul of the referee for the third time this term.
