Sunderland are slightly stretched at the back with Aji Alese (ankle) ruled out and Jensen Seelt (knee) rated doubtful.
Tom Smith and Alex Bangura (both Achilles) are sidelined and Jonny Howson (leg) and Marcus Forss (hamstring) are doubts.
