Bundesliga aces Stuttgart take on Serie A high-fliers Atalanta in Germany in what promises to be a highly entertaining encounter.

Stuttgart go into the game on four points after three rounds of matches while Atalanta are a point better off, unbeaten and yet to concede a goal.

Sebastian Hoeness' side, unbeaten at home in over a year, have been rock solid this season with just two defeats in their last 13 in all competitions.

The first of those losses was 3-1 at Real Madrid on Matchday One and there was no disgrace in their performance against the champions.

They followed that up with a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Sparta Prague to put themselves on the back foot, only to produce a stunning 1-0 win at Juventus last time out. It was a match in which the German side had 15 more shots, six more corners and missed a penalty. In short, they were outstanding.

And they warmed up for the visit of Atalanta with another admirable defensive effort on Friday night when they drew 0-0 at Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.

That's the size of the challenge facing Atalanta, who have made a better start in the UEFA Champions League thanks to a pair of 0-0 draws at home to Arsenal and Celtic sandwiching a 3-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk in neutral Gelsenkirchen.

The draw with Celtic constituted a major disappointment but they have responded well with three straight league wins, culminating in Sunday's 3-0 triumph at Napoli.

It means, however, they have had only three days to prepare for this, another testing away day, while Stuttgart have had an extra 48 hours off.

Stuttgart went into this round of fixtures having had more shots on target (29) than any other side - more than twice as many as Atalanta.

Their home record is exemplary and they can use that advantage to land odds of 27/20.
