St Mirren v Hearts: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Hearts can make it four wins in a row with victory over St Mirren in the Scottish Cup fifth round on Monday evening.

After struggling in the first few months of the season, Hearts have enjoyed a bright start to 2025 and Neil Critchley's side have lost only one of their last 10 games in all competitions.

They approach Monday's Cup clash at St Mirren on the back of wins over Brechin in the previous round and two subsequent league successes over Aberdeen and Dundee, the latter a 6-0 thrashing at the start of the month.

The Saints saw off Queen of the South in the fourth round but that victory is one of just two secured in their last seven outings.

St Mirren v Hearts betting tips and predictions

Hearts to win - 23/20

Hearts have risen to seventh in the Scottish Premiership after winning five of their first six league games this year and now they have their eyes on securing a quarter-final spot in the cup.

Critchley, who was appointed Jambos boss in the middle of October, has overseen a big turnaround in fortunes with his side now targeting a top-four finish and progress in the cup rather than battling to avoid relegation, which looked likely under former head coach Steven Naismith.

Last weekend's 6-0 hammering of Dundee at Dens Park was an outstanding result, following on from a 3-2 home win over Kilmarnock, and means they head to Paisley in fine fettle.

St Mirren, in contrast, were beaten 1-0 by bottom-of-the-table St Johnstone at home last time out and have lost five of their last seven games.

The two teams are side-by-side in the league, locked together on 30 points, but their respective form since the turn of the year is very different and the visitors look good value at 23/20 to secure another victory and reach the quarter-finals.

Over 2.5 goals - 19/20

Hearts have been banging in plenty of goals of late, hitting 13 in their last three games, so the likelihood of at least three overall on Monday night seems high.

The hosts have also been involved in some high-scoring games recently and even though they could struggle to contain Hearts, they should play their part going forward in the tie.

St Mirren were 3-1 winners at Queen of the South in the fourth round and followed up that victory with a 3-0 win at Aberdeen before suffering the narrow setback at the hands of St Johnstone.

The recent meetings between the two sides have also been goal-laden affairs with the past four match-ups all producing at least three goals.

Hearts won 4-0 at home in the league in October, in response to the Buddies' 2-1 win at The SMISA Stadium in the previous month.

Elton Kabangu to score anytime - 5/2

Elton Kabangu has impressed for Hearts since joining from Union St-Gilloise on loan last month with the striker scoring five goals in the last three games.

The 27-year-old hit a brace in the 4-1 success at Brechin in the fourth round then set the Jam Tarts on their way with the opener in the 3-2 victory over Kilmarnock in the league.

Kabangu also caught the eye with two more goals in the rout at Dundee so he should be full of confidence for Monday's clash as he looks to add to his tally in Scotland.
