Sparta Prague v Shamrock Rovers: Is the game on TV? Kick-off time, head-to-head stats and team news

Shamrock Rovers head to the Czech capital on Tuesday with a mountain to climb, needing to overturn a two-goal deficit after being defeated 2-0 by Sparta Prague in the first leg of their Champions League qualifying second-round tie.

An early exit would not be all bad for the Irish side, though, as they would still drop into Europa League qualifying as a consolation, but Stephen Bradley will be keen for his side to put in a good performance in Prague to kickstart their domestic season, which has been largely underwhelming thus far.

Sparta Prague v Shamrock Rovers stats and head-to-head record (H2H)

Sparta Prague are unbeaten in their last 16 competitive games, winning 12 times in that run, so they should be feeling confident ahead of this tie.

Goals are a common theme in their games, with 10 of their last 13 matches seeing both teams score, although they were strong at the back when winning 2-0 in Dublin last week.

Shamrock Rovers had won four Irish league titles in a row prior to this season, but their trophy defence has been woeful so far and they have endured a difficult campaign.

Rovers have lost four of their last seven matches and are winless in their last four on the road, failing to score in each of their most recent three away games.

Sparta’s 2-0 win last Tuesday was the first ever meeting between the pair.

Sparta Prague team news

Kaan Kairinen and Angelo Preciado missed the first leg but both returned over the weekend and will be looking to feature on Tuesday. Jan Mejdr, Roman Mokrovics and Filip Panak are all still out though.

Lukas Haraslin was only fit enough to make the bench in Dublin after his time away with Slovakia at Euro 2024 but he started in the 4-1 victory over Teplice on Saturday and scored, suggesting he may be in line to start the second leg.

Shamrock Rovers team news

Rory Gaffney was Shamrock Rovers' only injury absentee in the first leg and that should continue to be the case for their trip to Prague, with Rovers having no match over the weekend.

Jack Byrne was suspended for that 2-0 defeat after picking up two yellow cards in the second leg of their first-round tie with Vikingur Reykjavik and is available again.
