Solihull Moors and Bromley will meet in the FA Cup second round on Sunday in a repeat of last season’s National League play-off final.
These two sides should be well acquainted with each other, having met on four occasions since September last year, including Bromley’s penalty shootout victory at Wembley that secured them, and not Solihull, promotion to the EFL.
Over 1.5 Solihull Moors goals - 11/8
While the hosts are off the pace in the National League play-off chase this season, it isn’t due to any issues up front, as they have scored 35 goals in 20 matches this term, with just three teams in the division netting more.
Solihull are averaging 1.8 goals per game at home in the league this term, while they’ve netted at least twice in their previous six home matches. The hosts have scored three or more goals in four of their last five at ARMCO Arena, so they should be confident of making an impact.
Each of the three meetings between these two sides in 2024 have featured three or more goals and the odds point to another entertaining clash.
While both over 2.5 goals and both teams to score are each available below evens, the jump to 11/8 on the hosts to score at least twice seems like better value.
Bromley shipped two goals at Walsall in their last away match, while they were 4-3 winners at Rochdale in the previous round of the cup. Solihull look strong going forward, so back them to notch a couple of goals.
Michael Cheek to score any time - 7/4
Bromley forward Michael Cheek scored both of their goals when these two drew 2-2 at Wembley and he’s likely to cause more issues for Solihull this weekend.
The forward has had little trouble making the step up to the EFL, scoring nine goals in 14 appearances this term. He heads into Sunday’s clash having netted in four of his last five games, including the last round of the cup.
Cheek scored 23 goals in the National League last season, three of which came against Solihull. He was on the scoresheet against fifth-tier opposition in the previous round, netting at a Rochdale side that sit three spots above the Moors in the table. Given his brilliant start in the EFL and the fact this is expected to be high-scoring, Cheek is good value for a goal on the day.
Draw and both teams to score - 10/3
While these two sides met four times last season, just one of those came at the ARMCO Arena. That encounter finished 1-1, with their neutral clash at Wembley also finishing level.
Another draw should be on the cards here, as Bromley have seen seven of their last nine League Two assignments finish level. The Ravens have won only three of their first 16 league games, while they will be visiting a side that have triumphed in just three of their 10 home matches this season.
The Moors may be scoring at home, but wins have been less easy to come by. League Two Bromley should be able to push the hosts and with half of their league trips finishing level, a score draw holds plenty of appeal.
