Group B3 is one of the more interesting Nations League sections as three teams, including Slovenia and Norway who meet in Ljubljana on Thursday, have seven points with two games left to decide who will be promoted and gain a place in the play-off.
Norway, whose attack will be spearheaded by Erling Haaland, need to pick themselves up from a 5-1 defeat against the other team in the equation, Austria, while Slovenia will be motivated to avenge the recent 3-0 defeat they suffered in Oslo.
Both teams to score - 5/6
Norway looked to be sitting pretty before their last Nations League Group B3 game after a 3-0 home win against Slovenia left them clear at the top of the table. However, it is fair to say that their 5-1 defeat in Austria has given them work to do and enlivened the section.
Things have not been great for manager Stale Solbakken as he has not only had to deal with a series of key defensive errors and the unavailability of Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard, but he has also seen Haaland struggle for form.
The goal machine, who has scored 34 times in 37 senior Norway appearances, netted the winner for Manchester City in a 1-0 success over struggling Southampton and scored in their defeat at Brighton on Saturday, but he has been unable to build on a whirlwind start, even if he did score twice in last month’s reverse fixture.
Meanwhile, opponents Slovenia also have seven points, but six of those came in wins against Kazakhstan, who have claimed just a solitary draw in four games and look doomed to relegation.
They drew 1-1 at home Austria after displaying their stubbornness at the Euros where they drew all four of their matches and were knocked out by Portugal on penalties.
But while eight of their last 11 matches have featured fewer than three goals, this outing could be a lot more open, especially as Norway have kept just two clean sheets in their last 13 away matches.
It may be a bit of a leap to go for a home win so soon after the Oslo humbling but Slovenia could at least score against a team who have won just one of their last seven away matches. Both teams to score is an attractive proposition.
Benjamin Sesko to score at any time - 13/5
Benjamin Sesko is tied with Sweden’s Victor Gyokeres as the Nations League’s top goalscorer and the RB Leipzig striker can boost his tally against a potentially makeshift Norwegian defence.
All four of Sesko’s Nations League goals have come in home matches as he scored a hat-trick in Slovenia’s 3-0 win over Kazakhstan and also netted in the 1-1 draw with Austria.
He has had 16 attempts on goal in the competition, 10 of which have been on target, and has also netted against Atletico Madrid and Juventus (twice) despite the fact that Leipzig have lost all four of their Champions League matches this season.
Under 3.5 Slovenia corners - 1/1
Some of the most interesting stats concerning this clash revolve around the potential corner count and it seems unlikely there will be many flag-kicks for the home side.
Neither team have been particularly proficient in forcing corners with Norway having an average of 5.5 per match, but the visitors have conceded the fewest per game, alongside Northern Ireland, of all 54 teams competing in the tournament, with just 2.25.
They should be able to restrict their hosts in wide areas so it is worth taking a chance on Slovenia forcing only three or fewer corners.
