Sheffield Wednesday had gone eight games unbeaten until a 4-0 loss at Sunderland last Sunday and they can bounce back with a Yorkshire derby victory over Leeds United.
The Owls had a miserable time at the Stadium of Light but they were hugely impressive on the opening weekend of the season when registering a 4-0 success at home to Plymouth.
And Danny Rohl’s side are a point better off than Leeds, who drew at home to Portsmouth (3-3) and away to West Brom (0-0).
Leeds will be conscious of the need to improve and they are 5/6 to register their first win of the campaign. Wednesday are 10/3 to prevail and 5/2 to share the points.
Sheffield Wednesday draw no bet - 2/1
Sheffield Wednesday were beaten 4-0 at Sunderland last Sunday but they have made plenty of progress this year and look overpriced to bounce back with a victory over Leeds at Hillsborough.
The Owls started slowly at the Stadium of Light and were 3-0 down inside the first 25 minutes.
But they are unlikely to be too disheartened by one poor performance, given the progress they have made in recent times.
Danny Rohl’s side travelled to Wearside on an eight-match unbeaten sequence and will fancy their chances of bouncing back against Leeds, who are going through a tricky period after enduring a difficult few months in the transfer market.
Leeds’s failure to win promotion last season was a massive blow and has contributed to the loss of several key players.
Highly-rated youngster Archie Gray became the first big name to depart when he sealed a switch to Tottenham.
And he has been followed out of Elland Road by attackers Crysencio Summerville and Georgino Rutter, who clinched moves to West Ham and Brighton.
Summerville was top of Leeds’s Championship goal involvements last season with 19 goals and nine assists, while Rutter netted six times and assisted on 15 occasions.
Losing both is a huge blow and evidence of Leeds’s reduced threat was on offer last Saturday when they shared the points in a dull 0-0 draw at West Brom.
Leeds are in the market for reinforcements and should be stronger by the end of the window, but, for now, they look in a slightly vulnerable state and could be beaten in south Yorkshire.
Under 2.5 goals - 1/1
Leeds are short of where they want to be in attacking areas and, in the meantime, they might have to adopt a more cautious approach.
They were happy to keep a clean sheet at West Brom last Saturday and will be looking for another shutout in Sheffield to give themselves the best chance of posting a first win of the season.
Sheffield Wednesday will also be looking to keep things tight and atone for their defensive horror show at Sunderland.
Both teams may struggle to create clear-cut chances and there is scope for backing under 2.5 goals at evens.
Ike Ugbo to score the first goal - 7/1
In a closely fought derby encounter it might take just one moment of magic to decide the outcome.
And Sheffield Wednesday striker Ike Ugbo looks as likely as likely as anyone to deliver a match-winning contribution.
Ugbo sealed a permanent move to the Owls from Troyes after impressing during a loan spell at Hillsborough.
He netted seven times in 18 appearances last term and looks a tasty 7/1 shot to open his 2024/25 account with the first goal against Leeds.
