Sheffield United v Fulham: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Bottom club Sheffield United's return to the Premier League has been anything but successful and Fulham's visit on Saturday might provide another tough afternoon for the hosts at Bramall Lane.

The Blades' survival hopes are fading and even their 2-2 draw at Bournemouth will have offered little solace.

Chris Wilder's side showed signs of promise, but as so often has been the case this season, their spirit did not ultimately produce three points, as they squandered a two-goal lead at the Vitality.

They at least halted a three-game losing run in which they failed to score and now face an enigmatic Fulham side who can be brilliant one week yet equally bad the next.

The jury still seems to be out on how good they are, but with the Cottagers less than one win away from breaking into the top half, Marco Silva is clearly doing a decent job and it is no surprise to see they are 8/11 to record a fourth win in five when they travel to South Yorkshire.

Fulham to win and both teams to score @ 9/4

It has been a torrid campaign for the Blades and Wilder announced ahead of the international hiatus that he would be speaking to the club's owners, potentially and perhaps realistically with the main topic being how they will approach next season in the Championship.

The Blades sit bottom of the table and their numbers reflect their situation. They have won just twice at Bramall Lane and scored the fewest goals in the division.

Fulham are in a different position, happily stationed in mid-table after signing off for the international break with a 3-0 London derby victory over Tottenham.

They also won at Manchester United last month, but their attacking enthusiasm can leave them vulnerable away from home and they have not kept a clean sheet on the road since September.

After three weeks off, Wilder will likely frame this game as potentially his side's last chance to start building the required momentum to launch a late survival bid.

The break came at the wrong time for their in-form visitors and they may take time to settle, so a home goal is a real possibility. However, the Cottagers could prove too good and there is logic and value in backing an entertaining away win.

Rodrigo Muniz - Anytime Scorer @ 6/4

Aleksandar Mitrovic's departure last August to Saudi club Al Hilal presented a massive issue for Fulham.

The Serb had been the Cottagers' primary source of goals since initially arriving on loan in 2018 and Silva struggled to find a consistent alternative with Raul Jimenez, who, while fantastic to see him back, is still not producing the same numbers as he did before his freak head injury.

Jimenez's form woes have presented a chance for Rodrigo Muniz and his emergence may have surprised even himself.

The 22-year-old netted just once between August and January, but has since scored seven times in as many games.

Muniz's form has made him one of the finds of the season and he could experience more joy on Saturday.

As well as their attacking woes, United's 74 goals conceded is 11 worse than any other team in the Premier League and the Brazilian is worth following in the scorer markets.

An own goal - Yes @ 7/1

Finally, a left-field call, but an own goal might be something to watch out for on Saturday.

Both Antonee Robinson and Wes Foderingham were credited with putting through their own nets in the reverse fixture - a 3-1 Cottagers' win - while the Blades' issues at the back have resulted in them conceding own goals in their last two home matches.

Fulham's new-found pace and purpose on the break has proved problematic for defenders and the home side could find themselves in more awkward situations from which they cannot escape.
