Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr target Chelsea's Moises Caicedo

Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr are reportedly targeting an ambitious summer move for Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo.

Premier League

Chelsea’s second most expensive signing of all time having arrived from Brighton for £115m in August 2023, any Al-Nassr move for Caicedo is expecting to cost north of the £100m mark.

A potential switch to Al-Nassr would see Caicedo team up with Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, with the ex-Real Madrid star’s move to the Saudi Pro League back in January 2023 prompting a flurry of big-name arrivals in the Gulf state.

Along with legendary players such as Ronaldo and teammate Sadio Mane at the back end of their careers, Al-Nassr also stated their intent to sign top level talents in their peak years when acquiring Aston Villa’s 21-year-old striker Jhon Duran for £65m in January 2025.

The targeting of Caicedo indicates there is more where that came from for the Saudi Pro League side, with the 23-year-old Ecuadorian in the prime of his career.

Initially struggling for form at Chelsea, perhaps as a result of his huge price tag, Caicedo has enjoyed a strong campaign in 2024/25 with the energetic midfielder the only Blues player to have started every match in the Premier League this term.

Caicedo’s improvement at Chelsea has been symbolised by Enzo Maresca’s decision to hand the midfielder the captain’s armband on occasion this season.

Ex-Leicester boss Maresca has been effusive in his praise of Caicedo, who has been central to Chelsea’s push for UEFA Champions League qualification this term.

"In this moment he is one of the best, if not the best, defensive midfielder in the world,“ Maresca told Chelsea’s official website in April 2025.

“He is doing fantastic. The best thing about Moi [Caicedo] is that every day he is working serious – he is very humble, very kind and polite,” he added.

Maresca’s praise for Caicedo underlines his value to Chelsea, with the Italian likely keen to ensure the midfielder remains at the club beyond this season.

The Blues’ stretched financial situation and battle to ensure they continue to comply with the Premier League’s PSR regulations is widely documented, however, with an offer of upwards of £100m from the Saudi Pro League for Caicedo likely to test the Blues’ resolve.
