Saudi Arabia vs Trinidad and Tobago Tips, Predictions and Bet Builder

Saudi Arabia will have been disappointed to have slipped to a 1-0 defeat to the USA in Group D of the CONCACAF Gold Cup when a place in the last eight was up for grabs, but they have a second chance to secure their passage to the knockout rounds and should have few problems agonist Trinidad and Tobago.

Herve Renard’s side need just a point against the Caribbean outfit to progress, but they should be able to secure their second win of the group stage in a straightforward manner.

Saudi Arabia vs Trinidad and Tobago Prediction

Best Bet: Saudi Arabia to win and under 2.5 goals @ 11/4

Saudi Arabia will have considered themselves unfortunate not to have got something from their second Group D game against the USA after creating plenty of chances, but the bald truth for Herve Renard’s team is that they are not a free-scoring outfit.

They have scored just one goal in the tournament so far and have failed to net more than once in five of their last seven matches, so it seems unlikely they will run riot against Trinidad and Tobago at the Allegiant Stadium in Nevada.

Dwight Yorke’s side need a hefty win to have any chance of making the last eight but they scored just once against Haiti despite playing against 10 men for 50 minutes, so it seems unlikely this game will generate more than three goals despite the Caribbean side conceding six against the Americans.

Ian Wilkerson explains:

The Trinidad and Tobago side are far from tight but they should be keen to put on a strong show in what looks like being their last game at the CONCACAF Gold Cup, so the Saudis may do just enough to book their quarter-final spot.

    13/2

Saudi Arabia have the ability to claim their second group win at the CONCACAF Gold Cup and it is difficult to see Trinidad and Tobago putting up much resistance after their 1-1 draw with Haiti.

Dwight Yorke’s side had only two shots on target in that game so look unlikely to trouble the scoreboard, unlike Saudi Striker Saleh Al-Shehri, who scored their goal in the 1-0 win over Haiti and the opener when these two met in a friendly in December.

Ian Wilkerson adds:

Tirinidad and Tobago have nothing to lose in their final group game but the Saudis tend to be well disciplined at the back so they look unlikely to find the net in this one, while Saleh Al-Shehri has the potential to grow into the tournament.

Tactics, Form and Team News

Saudi Arabia manager Renard is extensively experienced on the international stage and likes to keep things solid at the back and build from there.

What may be different this time is that his counter-attacking style may not serve against a team his side are expected to beat comfortably, so expect his team to be on the front foot with a 4-3-3 formation adopted.

Expected Saudi Arabia line-up (4-3-3): Al-Aqidi; Majrashi, Al-Amri, Madu, Boushal; Abdulrahmid, Ali, Al-Aboud; Yahya, Al-Buraikan, Al-Shehri.

Dwight Yorke will hope his team can push forward at every opportunity but while the former Manchester United striker puts a great emphasis on midfield discipline, this could prove to be a game that is difficult to control.

Expected Trinidad and Tobago line-up (4-4-2): Phillip; Cardines, Bateau, J Garcia, Raymond; Sealy, Rampersad, Fortune, Spicer; L Garcia, Molino.
