Salford City v Bradford City: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Bradford City are seven points off League Two leaders Walsall and on a strong run, so they will fancy their chances of getting the better of play-off-chasing Salford City, who have won just once in their last eight league outings.

Salford City v Bradford City betting tips and predictions

Bradford City to win - 7/5

Graham Alexander’s Bradford are making a strong push towards promotion from League Two and the manager would be delighted to boost their chances of going up by claiming a win at Salford City, the club he guided into the Football League.

The Bantams have lost just one of their last 13 league games and have been chipping away at leaders Walsall’s advantage as the Saddlers have claimed just two victories in their last eight games.

While being champions would be nice - they are seven points behind the Midlanders - the prize of promotion will outweigh the status gained by finishing top of the pile and the Yorkshire outfit will hope to at least maintain their three-point advantage over fourth-in-the-table AFC Wimbledon.

Alexander’s team have conceded just one goal in their last nine games and five of those matches have been 1-0 wins, including Tuesday’s success at Bromley and they should be relied upon to claim another win here.

Salford are four points off the play-offs and have lost just once at the Peninsula Stadium in their last eight outings.

However, they have failed to win seven of their last eight league matches generally and that looks to push the advantage in Bradford’s favour.

Bobby Pointon to score at any time - 11/2

Bradford’s promotion quest was seemingly dealt a shattering blow last month when striker Andy Cook, who had contributed 12 league goals to the cause, was ruled out for the rest of the season after he sustained a cruciate ligament injury.

That has meant other Bantams have had to step up to the plate to maintain the Yorkshire side’s promotion push and one player to look out for on Saturday is Barry Pointon, who was City’s hero on Tuesday when they grabbed a valuable 1-0 win at Bromley.

That goal was the forward’s fourth of the season and he has had multiple goal attempts in five of his last six starts, so he is clearly intent on playing his part in the quest to gain a rise to League One.

He looks like an attractive price to find the net in Saturday’s showdown.

Bradford City to win corner match bet - 5/6

There looks to be a strong chance that the visiting Bantams will come out on top of the corner match bet at the Peninsula Stadium.

The visitors average 5.19 flag-kicks per away game, which is the fourth highest figure in League Two, while opponents Salford cannot be considered prolific in this regard when they are playing in front of their own fans.

Only Newport County (3.69 per home game), Cheltenham Town (3.71) and Accrington Stanley (4.2) average fewer than Salford’s 4.69.

Therefore, as the Bantams concede a mean figure of 4.88 per away match, they look the more likely team to take the highest number of corners in Saturday’s contest.
