Ross County v Rangers: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Rangers began the weekend with 11 points to make up on arch-rivals Celtic in the race for the Scottish Premiership title and three successive wins will mean they are confident for an away clash with Ross County on Sunday.

However, their hosts will be anxious to show they can perform against Old Firm opposition after a 5-0 loss at Parkhead last week, and should be inspired by a 3-2 win over the Gers on their last visit to Dingwall in April.

Rangers have a mammoth task to haul back arch rivals Celtic and get back into the Scottish Premiership title race and a win at Ross County would not even see them leapfrog Aberdeen to move into second.

However, manager Philippe Clement has seen his side win their last three matches, including an impressive 4-1 success over Nice in the Europa League, so they look strong enough to take some chunks out of the deficit by just worrying about their own position and keep picking up points.

Having beaten KIlmarnock 6-0 in midweek and seen Ross County thumped 5-0 at Parkhead last week, the Gers could be excused for taking things easy, but they only have to look back a few months for their last visit to Dingwall when they were on the receiving end of a 3-2 defeat.

That was Ross’s first win over the Ibrox outfit in 23 league meetings and while County are licking their wounds after last week’s hiding, they have suffered just one defeat in their last six home matches, which also came against Celtic.

On that occasion, the Staggies were winning in the 75th minute, and they have scored at least twice in nine of their last 14 home matches.

So, with 10 of the last 13 meetings having featured at least four goals, we could be in for another entertaining clash.

Second half to have most goals - 1/1

While there could be plenty of goal incidents in this clash, Rangers’ results suggest it could take a little while to come to the boil.

The Gers have not been strong in the first half this term and their 6-0 win over Ross in August was the last occasion they scored more than once in the first half and that was 13 Scottish Premiership games ago.

With County desperate to keep things tight after conceding five times in the first 40 minutes at Celtic last week, it is worth chancing that more goals arrive after the interval.

Vaclav Cerny to score at any time - 15/8

While it has been a disappointing season for Rangers in terms of their league position, one player who has flourished has been Vaclav Cerny, who has shone since his summer arrival from Wolfsburg.

The Czech forward has scored six times in the league this season and been on target in three of his last four outings for the Gers, including in their 4-1 Europa League win at Nice.

He has had at least three efforts on goal in seven of his last eight league appearances so it would not be a surprise if he managed to add to his tally at Dingwall.
