Real Betis v Barcelona: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Barcelona have won on their last seven trips to Real Betis in La Liga and will be confident of making it eight just a few days after their 5-1 romp at Mallorca.

You have to go back to 2008 for the last time Betis beat Barca on home soil in the league and the Andalucian side's recent poor run suggests they are in for another tricky afternoon.

Barcelona/Both Teams to Score - 7/4

Crisis talk at Barcelona didn't last long - three games in fact - as Hansi Flick's men came out of their mini rut in style on Tuesday night in Mallorca.

Taking on one of La Liga's sturdiest defences and most in-form sides, Flick's reshuffled group romped to a 5-1 victory and even did so without Robert Lewandowski getting on the pitch.

It was just about the perfect evening for Flick, who was able to give his Polish star a rest ahead of the trip to Betis and then Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

Ferran Torres took on line-leading duties at San Moix and opened the scoring in a first half that wasn't the best.

But they really turned on the style in the second period scoring four unanswered goals to reassert their authority at the top of the table.

This still isn't a vintage Barca by any means and that trio of setbacks against Sociedad, Celta and Las Palmas in which they suffered two defeats either side of the 2-2 draw in Vigo, can't be lazily overlooked.

But Lamine Yamal was a big miss in the first two of those games and they look so much classier when he is joining a frontline which will probably be led by Lewandowski at the Estadio Benito Villamarin, but that isn't guaranteed given how well Torres performed in midweek.

And Torres scored a hat-trick in this fixture last season, a match Barca won 4-2.

Flick also has options in the No.10 role after Frenkie de Jong came on for Dani Olmo and silenced doubters, meaning there's a competition for places in the attacking third which will delight the German.

They should be licking their lips heading to Betis, whose 3-1 win in the Copa del Rey at fourth-tier Sant Andreu on Wednesday snapped a three-game losing streak.

Manuel Pellegrini's side are unquestionably better at home where they have lost just once in all competitions - to Mallorca - and have beaten Atletico Madrid 1-0.

Despite not being in the best of nick domestically or in the UEFA Conference League - next Thursday's trip to Moldova to face Petrocub is a must-not-lose affair for the Spaniards - they have found the net in all but one of their last 11 matches.

There are enough question marks about Barca defensively to suggest that Betis can score against them, but so much to like about Flick's men in attack that the visitors should score more.

Lamine Yamal Over 1.5 Shots on Target - 5/4

Yamal is fit and firing and ready to have some fun at the Benito Villamarin.

A few weeks off with injury have freshened up the Euro 2024 star and he looked dazzling at Mallorca, where he fired off six shots and made an assist for Raphinha's second goal.

Yamal is leading Barcelona's shooting stats this season with 3.5 per game and, given the chances he and his team-mates carve out, it's easy to see him having at least two on target at Betis.

Real Betis Over 4.5 Corners - Evens

Vitor Roque, the Barca striker on loan at Betis who appears to have very little affection for his parent club, will be determined that he and his team-mates can put on a show against the Catalan giants.

At home, at least, they are decent, a fact that can be borne out in the number of corners they win.

Pellegrini's side are averaging six corners per game at home and Barca are conceding 5.7 corners per game away.

If this match maps out as suggested, Roque and Betis will be chasing the game which should encourage the corners count up.
