Rangers will look to continue their impressive record against Dundee when the two sides go head-to-head in Saturday’s Scottish League Cup clash at Ibrox.
Winners of the competition last season, Gers have now won their last five League Cup games, beating the likes of Greenock Morton, Livingston, Hearts, Aberdeen and, most recently, St Johnstone.
Dundee on the other hand beat Airdrieonians 6-1 in the last round of this competition, but have not won a game since, with draws against Hibernian and St Mirren followed by a 2-0 defeat at Ross County last time out.
A tough trip to Ibrox awaits and it’s hard to look past the holders to progress here.
Rangers to win to nil - 11/10
While Rangers had a day to forget at Parkhead in the last Old Firm Derby with a 3-0 defeat to rivals Celtic, the Light Blues’ defence has been largely impressive.
Keeping clean sheets in three of their last four games, manager Philippe Clement has made his side a tough team to break down.
Also keeping clean sheets in three of their last four outings in the League Cup, Hearts were the last team to score against Rangers in this competition back in November 2023.
The Gers are also unbeaten in their last 17 home games against Dundee, with the Dark Blues last winning at Ibrox back in 2001.
Considering Dundee have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last six games in all competitions and failed to find the back of the net last time out against Ross County in Dingwall, Rangers to win to nil looks to be the way to go for Saturday’s evening kick-off.
Cyriel Dessers first goalscorer - 7/2
Cyriel Dessers appeared to enjoy his encounters with Dundee last season, with the clubs facing off on four occasions in the Premiership.
Dessers scored in three of those four league games and the Nigerian is currently Rangers’ top goalscorer in the league this season with three goals.
With Rangers hoping to make a fast start and put this tie to bed early doors, their main goalscoring threat Dessers looks to be good value at 7/2 to opening the scoring against Tony Docherty’s side.
Ziyad Larkeche to be booked - 3/1
With three yellow cards in the Premiership already this season, no Dundee player has been been booked more in the league for the club this term than Ziyad Larkeche.
The former Paris Saint-Germain and Fulham youth player currently finds himself with Dundee on a season-long deal from Queens Park Rangers.
The 21-year-old is clearly looking to make an impact with his performances north of the border and the young Parisian does not seem to be afraid to put a foot in.
With Rangers expected to see plenty of the ball and with their ability to overload their right side with skipper James Tavernier joining from deep, Larkeche might well have a busy evening on his hands in Glasgow.
Considering his record already this season in Premiership, Larkeche might well add another yellow to his growing collection on Saturday.
