Queens Park Rangers v Luton Town: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Queens Park Rangers are one of the form sides in the Championship and they will be looking to extend their impressive run when they welcome struggling Luton Town to Loftus Road on Monday.

After losing just one of their last 10 matches, QPR have eased their relegation concerns and they will be seeking a fifth-straight home win when the Hatters come to town.

As for Luton, they remain in a battle to avoid back-to-back relegations, with a run of three consecutive defeats leaving them just two points above the bottom three and with pressure firmly on the shoulders of manager Rob Edwards.

Queens Park Rangers to win - 11/8

It looked set to be a season of struggle for QPR after they spent the majority of the opening months of the campaign languishing in the relegation zone, but after he kept them up last term, the club stuck by head coach Marti Cifuentes and that appears to have been the right decision.

Since losing at promotion contenders Leeds United in early November, the Rs have embarked on a run that has seen them suffer just one defeat in 10 matches - a 3-0 reverse at Swansea City on Boxing Day.

That defeat could have brought their upturn to an abrupt end, but QPR responded by taking four points from their next two games, following up a 1-1 draw at Norwich City in their final match of 2024 with a 3-1 home success over Watford on New Year's Day.

That latter result was QPR's fourth home victory on the bounce, a feat made all the more remarkable as prior to claiming the first of those successes against Norwich at the start of December, they had not won at Loftus Road all season in the league.

It certainly has been a winter of positivity for QPR, who have claimed five of their six league victories across their last 10 games, the only exception being their 2-1 win at Luton back in August.

QPR will fancy their chances of completing the league double over Luton, whose own mini upturn in form feels a long time ago following three defeats on the bounce and four losses in their last five.

While their New Year's Day home defeat to Norwich was their first loss at Kenilworth Road since October, Luton's away form has been nothing short of catastrophic, as they have lost nine road games on the bounce since winning at Millwall in mid-September.

Only bottom-of-the-table Plymouth Argyle hold a worse away record than Luton in the Championship this season and the Hatters could be set for more away-day misery when they visit west London.

Over 2.5 goals and both teams to score - 8/5

QPR have scored 10 goals across their last four home fixtures, while the only time they have failed to net in their last seven games, home or away, was their Boxing Day loss at Swansea.

Scoring certainly does not appear to be a problem for Cifuentes' team, although they are liable to concede at the other end, as they are without a clean-sheet in five and have let in goals in their last two home fixtures against Preston North End and Watford.

That will give Luton hope of at least getting on the scoresheet, just as they did in August's reverse meeting at Kenilworth Road, although they were beaten 2-1 that day.

The Hatters scored in their last away trip - a 2-1 loss at Swansea - and a similar outcome could be expected on Monday, with both teams netting in a match featuring at least three goals.

Jimmy Dunne to score at any time - 8/1

QPR have shared the goals around this season, with no member of the squad finding the back of the net more than four times.

Forward Michael Frey has reached that tally, but perhaps surprisingly he has been joined on that mark by centre-back Jimmy Dunne, who has remarkably netted in three of his last four appearances at Loftus Road.

After opening the scoring in last month's 3-0 victory over Norwich, Dunne has followed up with a late winner against Preston and a strike last time out in the success over Watford.

Against a Luton defence that is one of the leakiest in the division, Dunne will fancy his chances of finding the back of the net once more and adding to what is already his best scoring season.
