QPR v Leeds: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Leeds are desperately close to returning to the Premier League, but hosts QPR have work to do to preserve their place in the Championship, and it could be a tough challenge for the Yorkshire outfit.

The promotion chase in the Championship looks like it is going to go to the wire and Leeds would give themselves a huge boost and throw the ball into Ipswich's court with a win at QPR on Friday.

However, their west London opponents have grown stronger in the second half of the season and still have the motivation to ensure they remain in the second tier next season.

QPR v Leeds betting tips and predictions

QPR or Draw double chance - 6/4

Leeds, Leicester and Ipswich have all had the odd wobble as they attempt to get over the line in the Championship promotion chase and the Yorkshire challengers have had plenty of travails lately.

Daniel Farke's side grabbed a vital 4-3 win at Middlesbrough on Monday, which saved their skin after they collected just one point from their previous three matches against Coventry, Sunderland and Blackburn.

They head to Loftus Road searching for their 12th league away win of the campaign and it would give them a huge lift before Ipswich head to Hull on Saturday night.

However, QPR should not be ruled out, as they have strung together some decent results over the last couple of months to climb away from the relegation zone.

Marti Cifuentes' team have lost just four of their last 17 outings, and, as they are not quite safe from the drop, they should still be going all guns blazing to get a precious win.

Last week's 1-0 success over Preston gave them some extra breathing space and they have the potential to worry a Leeds team who could be nervy with the big prize in sight, so backing the Hoops in the double-chance market, where a draw would also be a winning bet, could be the way to go.

Under 2.5 goals - 6/5

While there is perhaps less pressure on Rangers to get a positive result - a point would see them safe and there is a strong chance their four-point gap from the drop will not be overhauled - this could still be a nervy encounter.

While there were seven goals at the Riverside on Monday in Leeds' latest win, the Whites struggled to find the net in their three games before that and drew blanks in home matches against Blackburn and Sunderland.

QPR grabbed a 1-0 win over Preston last week and are the third-lowest goalscorers in the division this season after Sheffield Wednesday and bottom-of-the-table Rotherham.

Six of the London side's last eight games have featured fewer than three goals, and while over 2.5 goals has been a winner in each of Leeds' last three away matches, that was the case in just three of the previous 13.

Therefore, the circumstances of the match suggest there could be some value in backing under 2.5 goals at 6/5.

Jack Colback to be booked - 13/8

Even if there are few goals, this still looks like being a strongly contested affair, and the midfield battle will be key.

QPR's Colback should be at the heart of the action and it could be the case that the 34-year-old former Newcastle and Nottingham Forest man faces a demanding evening.

He picked up his 12th yellow card of the season in 23 league starts for the Hoops this season and this looks like just the sort of competitive game where he could once again end up in the referee's notebook.
