Preston North End have endured a difficult start to the Championship season and they head into the latest round of fixtures in the drop zone, with just four points on the board after five games.

It doesn’t get any easier for the hosts, as they welcome unbeaten Blackburn Rovers to Deepdale on Sunday.

Rovers have 11 points on the board after three wins and two draws, but they are yet to claim an away victory in the league.

Preston sit in the relegation zone but their results at home have been positive and the majority of their troubles have come on the road.

The Lilywhites lost to Sheffield United in their opening game at Deepdale but are unbeaten in three matches since across all competitions, claiming a victory over another relegated side in Luton Town and dumping Sunderland and Fulham out of the EFL Cup.

A North End win at 13/8 does catch the eye here but they have had a tough week after overcoming the Cottagers on penalties. That win didn’t come without a cost either, as defenders Patrick Bauer and Andrew Hughes both picked up knocks and could miss out on Sunday.

Instead, taking a chance on both teams to score at 4/5 looks a strong play here as both of these teams have enough quality in attack to make a breakthrough.

Preston failed to score in their first two league fixtures but have now scored in five consecutive games across all competitions, hitting nine goals in the process, and there have been goals at both ends in their last two league fixtures.

Blackburn Rovers have been a good team for BTTS backers to follow all season as there were goals at both ends in each of their opening six games across all competitions, before they recorded a first clean sheet of the season last weekend in a 3-0 win over Bristol City at Ewood Park.

Both teams have scored in each of the last five meetings between these two Lancashire rivals and the last time they met they played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at this venue in February. 

Yuki Ohashi to score anytime - 5/2

Japanese forward Yuki Ohashi has made an impressive start to his Blackburn career with five goals in seven games across all competitions.

The summer signing from Hiroshima has four goals in five league appearances despite starting just twice, and he should be involved from the off on Sunday after scoring a brace in the win over Bristol City last weekend.

Ohashi is averaging an impressive 3.5 shots per 90 minutes for Rovers and tends to be fairly accurate with 1.8 per 90 min on target, so he looks a strong contender for a goal at some point.

Sondre Tronstad to be booked - 15/4 

There are a few interesting options in the market to be booked and from a value perspective Blackburn’s Norwegian midfielder Sondre Tronstad jumps out at 15/4.

Tronstad has two bookings in his last three games for Rovers and picked up seven yellow cards in 36 league appearances last term. The 29-year-old is averaging 1.3 fouls per game and has committed two in total in two of his five appearances, so at a big price he is worth considering for a booking.
