West Brom will be confident that they can maintain their unbeaten start to the season at Portsmouth, who have yet to gain a victory since earning promotion from League One.
Pompey have had a tough run of opening fixtures and they will not be able to relax against an Albion side who have already won two away games this term.
West Brom to win - 17/20
Portsmouth stormed their way to 97 points in League One last season, leading to some suggesting they could follow Ipswich’s lead and be in the Championship promotion mix this term, but they already have ground to make up on the leading lights and their hopes may have to be more modest.
John Mousinho’s side have not been helped by a tough set of fixtures to start the season as they have earned draws against the fancied trio of Leeds United, Luton Town and Middlesbrough and then went into the international break having suffered a 3-1 home defeat to pacesetters Sunderland.
It doesn't get any easier for Pompey on Sunday as they host another team who have claimed three wins and a draw from their opening four matches, West Brom.
The Baggies missed out on the play-offs last term, but Carlos Corceran’s side are looking the part and head to the south coast having already posted victories at QPR and Stoke City.
Those two victories should give them plenty of confidence when added to the 1-0 home success they posted over Swansea before the international break and it looks likely that they will go on the front foot in search of another road success.
Portsmouth have won just one of their last seven league and cup matches and they look vulnerable against their visitors from the Midlands.
Over 2.5 goals - 10/11
The home side can at least be relied upon to push forward as their lack of proficiency in the final third at home has been a big reason for their indifferent start.
They failed to make their mark against Luton despite the fact they were playing against 10 men for almost an hour, lost 1-0 to fellow Championship outfit Millwall in the League Cup and while they did score in their 3-1 loss against the Black Cats, their goal was scored in his own net by Luke O’Nien.
That run should not continue much longer and while the Baggies have yet to taste defeat this term, they have kept just one clean sheet in their last 15 Championship away games.
Eight of West Brom’s last nine league road matches have generated at least three goals and there looks a strong chance that particular pattern can be followed at Fratton Park.
Josh Maja to score at any time - 15/8
Albion have shown their prowess on the travels this season with their wins at Loftus Road and the be365 Stadium, and their Nigerian striker Josh Maja has been the leading light.
He scored all three goals in their 3-1 success in west London and then proved his worth at Stoke, where he scored what proved to be the winner in a 2-1 success.
The Baggies have found the net in all but one of their last 12 league away games and there looks a strong chance that the striker who has had to wait patiently for a chance at The Hawthorns can lead the charge and can get himself on the scoresheet in the third successive Championship away game.
