Port Vale and Wrexham are having impressive 2024/25 campaigns and the EFL Trophy rivals will battle it out for top spot in Northern Section Group B on Tuesday evening.
Wrexham to win to nil - 11/4
Wrexham are top of Group B in the Northern Section of the EFL Trophy, having beaten Salford 2-1 and Wolves U21 3-0 in their first two games.
The Red Dragons are aiming to complete a hat-trick of victories in the competition when they travel to Port Vale, who are also guaranteed a place in the last 32.
Vale won 2-0 at Salford before a penalty-shootout success against the Wolves youngsters, who earned a 2-2 draw in normal time at Vale Park.
Darren Moore has led the hosts to top spot in League Two and promotion is clearly the focus for the Valiants this season – as it is for Wrexham, who are third in League One.
Vale have lost their last two matches, going down 3-1 at home to third-tier Barnsley in the FA Cup before a disappointing 1-0 league defeat at Gillingham on Saturday.
Another defeat to nil could be on the cards when they take on Wrexham's rock-solid defence. No team in League One has conceded fewer goals than the Red Dragons' tally of 10 in 14 matches and they have kept clean sheets in four of their last six games in all competitions.
Phil Parkinson's men do most of their best work at home but they have won 2-0 at Peterborough and 1-0 at Rotherham this term, also drawing 0-0 at Bolton and Leyton Orient, so they look an appealing price to win to nil on Tuesday.
Wrexham to score in 1st Half - 1/1
Wrexham's 1-0 home win over Mansfield on Saturday was sealed by a sixth-minute goal from wing-back Ryan Barnett and they can make another fast start against Port Vale.
The Red Dragons have scored 15 of their 22 league goals in the first half of matches this term and they should be backed to find the net before the break at Vale Park.
Wrexham scored twice in the last 20 minutes of last season's 2-1 EFL Trophy home win over Vale. However, in their other five matches in the competition since returning to the EFL they scored their opener in the 13th, fifth, fifth, 18th and 22nd minutes.
Vale went 1-0 down in the 26th minute of their clash with Wolves U21 and fell behind in the 17th minute of their last home game, the FA Cup defeat to Barnsley, who are three points behind Wrexham in League One.
Max Cleworth anytime goalscorer - 12/1
Wrexham boss Parkinson has an exciting array of attacking options including strikers Paul Mullin, Ollie Palmer and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and free-scoring midfielder Elliot Lee.
Centre-back Max Cleworth also poses a threat to Vale and he is worth a small bet to score at any time after a fine start to the season at both ends of the pitch.
Cleworth took only nine minutes to open his goalscoring account in League One, giving Wrexham the lead in their opening game against Wycombe.
He also scored in the 2-0 win at Peterborough and the 2-1 home victory over Crawley, in which he set up Lee's opener before claiming the decisive goal in the 79th minute.
Cleworth has had four attempts at goal in his last four League One appearances and the defender could add to his impressive goal tally in the EFL Trophy.
